Cranes in Action | Devonport Terminal 3

Big things are happening in Tasmania, with the construction of Devonport Terminal 3 helping shape the future of the state’s transport, tourism and freight network. Once complete, the project will provide a new home for the next generation of Spirit of Tasmania vessels, creating a more efficient gateway between Tasmania and the mainland while supporting long-term economic growth and connectivity for the state.

Leading the delivery of this major infrastructure project is BMD Groupp, bringing together expertise across marine, civil and building works to deliver one of Tasmania’s most significant port infrastructure upgrades.

Supporting the project on the ground is CICA Member Universal Cranes Cranes, helping keep this complex build moving through specialist lifting solutions and crane support. Projects of this scale rely on the skill, precision and collaboration of the crane industry to safely deliver critical infrastructure for communities across Australia.

From lifting capability to large-scale construction, this is another example of cranes in action helping build the future of Tasmania.

Cranes in Action | Rockhampton Ring Road, QLD

The Rockhampton Ring Road is one of Queensland’s largest transport infrastructure projects, delivering a major new western link of the Bruce Highway to improve freight efficiency, flood resilience, road safety and connectivity across Central Queensland.

Playing a critical role in bringing this major project to life are cranes, supporting an extensive bridge construction program across the corridor. A key feature of the project is the new 435-metre Fitzroy River crossing between Pink Lily and Parkhurst, alongside 18 bridges being delivered throughout the alignment.

From lifting bridge girders to placing large precast concrete elements, cranes are essential to keeping construction moving safely, efficiently and on schedule. Operating across large-scale work zones and active transport corridors, crane operations require careful coordination, precision and planning to ensure safe delivery with minimal disruption.

Cranes are helping deliver this landmark project by:
✔️ Supporting critical lifts for the Fitzroy River crossing
✔️ Installing bridge girders and precast components
✔️ Assisting with road overpasses and water crossings
✔️ Enabling safe operations in flood-prone and high-traffic environments
