We're proud to support National Skills Week and the important conversations taking place about the future of Australia's workforce.

As part of the week, our team member Dr Sairah Hussain attended Melbourne Polytechnic's industry co-design workshop. Working together, industry representatives explored the future skills, knowledge and capabilities required to support Victoria's renewable energy transition.

Thank you to Melbourne Polytechnic and all participants for the opportunity to contribute to this important conversation about building a skilled, sustainable workforce for the future.

The Future Energy Skills team attended the Gippsland New Energy Conference 2026 this week, gaining valuable insights from industry leaders, government representatives and community organisations working in the Gippsland region to accelerate Australia's energy transition.

Key discussions included offshore wind, energy storage, and workforce inclusion, reinforcing the need for accessible energy career pathways, strong regional workforce development, and a sustainable skills pipeline to support future energy demand.

We look forward to continuing our engagement with stakeholders across Gippsland and contributing to the region’s ongoing growth and development.

After the success of our very first More or Less fundraising walk last year, we are thrilled to be doing it all again this year, raising funds for Ronald McDonald House Charities.

A group from Future Energy Skills (FES) will be walking 30km (more-or-less) on Saturday October 31 to support Ronald McDonald House Charities in honour of Beth, the daughter of one of our colleagues.

Beth and her family were cared for by the incredible team at Ronald McDonald House during a challenging time, and their story deeply touched us. The House provided far more than just a place to stay. It gave Beth's family the opportunity to remain close by, spend precious time together, and focus on what mattered most. Alongside accommodation, Ronald McDonald House offered meals, laundry facilities, and everyday support, helping ease the burden of daily life when caring for a sick child.

Through our fundraising efforts, we hope to help ensure more families can access the same comfort, care, and support when they need it most.

Powering Women into Clean Energy Across Australia

Over the past few weeks, our team has been out and about promoting the Powering Women into Clean Energy Apprenticeships project at a range of events across the country.

We began at the Geelong Careers Expo, where more than 3,000 students attended over two days to explore future career pathways, learn about apprenticeships, and discover the support available to help them succeed.

The following day, we were in Tasmania for the Tasmanian Building & Construction Careers Expo 'Tailgate', alongside one of our project partners, BUSY At Work. It was a fantastic opportunity to connect with industry representatives and young people, sharing information about careers in electrotechnology and the growing opportunities within the clean energy sector.

Then just last week Miranda attended a school visit at Sacred Heart, thanks to the team at EWIT. The students were highly engaged, and many had the chance to get hands-on with tools for the very first time, sparking curiosity and confidence in exploring trade careers.

We're excited to continue visiting schools, expos, and community events across Australia as we work to inspire more women to pursue careers in clean energy.
