The reason people take on the house build experience isn’t complicated… but it is powerful.

There’s something about being there, in the moment, seeing walls go up and lives begin to change right in front of you. It’s not just about building a house — it’s about building connection, purpose, and perspective.

Hearing the stories, meeting the families, and witnessing the impact in real time is what stays with people long after they leave. It’s what turns a single experience into something much bigger.

And that’s why so many come back. Not because they have to… but because they want to be part of something that truly matters.

If you’ve ever thought about doing something like this, consider this your sign.

Would you do it? Or have you already experienced something like this? Share in the comments.

Tax deductible trip in Cambodia anyone?

More and more businesses are choosing experiences that go beyond conferences, boardrooms and team dinners.

They’re choosing trips that:

• strengthen team culture

• align with company values

• create real, visible impact

• and often qualify as tax-deductible (always check with your accountant)

At Global Transitions Foundation, we work with businesses and teams who want to do things differently.

We currently have a business group joining us in November and we regularly tailor projects to suit:

• your team size

• your timing

• your values and goals

From hands-on community projects to presentations, shared learning, and meaningful contribution, these experiences build more than houses.

They build perspective.

Connection.

Leadership.

If you see potential for your company or business, we’d love to explore it with you.

No pressure.

Just a conversation about what’s possible when business and impact meet.

This is what happens when travel becomes service…

Jeanette didn’t come to Cambodia to “see” poverty
She came to do something meaningful and she’s now returned three times

What keeps calling her back isn’t charity

It’s community & the relationships formed

It’s hands-on impact

It’s watching what happens when people are given belief, dignity and a real hand up, not a handout

Inspired by Mr. Sin’s story and leadership, Jeanette saw firsthand how resilience, integrity and service can ripple through families, generations and entire communities

This experience isn’t about saving anyone

It’s about walking alongside people, contributing in practical ways and forming genuine human connection

She brought her children
Her grandchild
And watched her family’s perspective and her own shift completely

Because there’s a difference between visiting a country…
and being part of it

This is what ethical, purpose-led travel looks like…
• Safe, welcoming communities
• Deep connection, not tourism
• Mental and emotional impact, for everyone involved
• Value beyond the trip itself
• A sense of family that keeps growing

If you’re craving more meaning from your time, your travel and your contribution… this is it

You don’t need to have all the answers

You just need to be willing to show up, help, and connect

Sometimes the greatest value isn’t what you give, it’s what you leave with 🌏

We don’t always remember the things we were given.
But we remember how something made us feel.

Most gifts eventually fade… they’re used, outgrown, replaced or forgotten.
But experiences stay with us. They shape us. They become part of our story.

An experience can shift perspective.
It can open hearts.
It can strengthen relationships and create memories that last far longer than anything wrapped in paper.

Especially when it’s shared.

Shared experiences turn into conversations years later.
Into inside jokes.
Into moments we return to when life feels busy or heavy.

And when an experience also gives back, when it supports families, communities and long-term impact… it becomes even more meaningful.

It stops being “just a gift” and becomes a contribution.
Something that matters beyond the moment.

If you’re ever wondering what to gift someone who already has enough…
consider an experience that creates memories and supports others.

Less clutter.
More connection.
More meaning.

Sometimes the most valuable thing you can give isn’t something you hold,
it’s something you experience together 🌏

This isn’t volunteer tourism, it’s conscious contribution ⤵️
“Why would you pay to volunteer?”

Because for the families we’re building for, this isn’t an experience… it’s their home

It’s safety.
Stability.
A future.

When you contribute financially, you’re not paying for a trip
You’re helping ensure that families are supported with dignity that local workers are paid, materials are sourced responsibly, and projects are built to last

Your contribution means this family isn’t rushed for a photo
They’re respected.
They’re prioritised.
They’re given something solid to stand on.

And when you show up in person, working alongside the community, you see it
You see exactly where your money goes
You feel the reciprocity because this isn’t charity, it’s partnership

Your investment also creates continuity
It allows families to be supported year after year, not just once
It helps communities grow stronger instead of being left behind when volunteers leave

There’s also something powerful about commitment

When you invest, you arrive with care
With presence.
With respect for the people whose lives you’re stepping into.

This is about walking alongside families, believing in them and offering a hand up not a handout

And in that exchange, something shifts

For them… it’s a home
For you… it’s perspective, connection and a deeper understanding of what really matters 🌏

Tell us below in the comments, why would you pay to volunteer? ⤵️

They think that...

They receive so much from us volunteers giving but in fact

I feel we receive EVEN MORE than they could ever imagine just by simply being a better human being

Choosing a family isn’t quick.
And it isn’t easy.

Before a single brick is laid, our social workers spend months working with the community alongside local NGOs, village chiefs, and commune leaders to truly understand what families need, not what we think they need.

Every visit matters.
Every conversation matters.

We don’t just ask questions, we listen.
We check documentation.
We speak with neighbours.
We ensure land ownership is secure.
We look at education, work ethic, and how the family shows up in their community.

Not because we’re judging,
but because we’re building something meant to last.

We don’t build houses that disappear.
We don’t rush decisions.
And we don’t make choices based on appearances alone.

If a family doesn’t meet the criteria yet, we don’t walk away.
We work with them.
We set steps.
We return.
Because real support means helping people rise, not leaving them behind.

At the heart of every decision is one focus
the children and their future.

This is what ethical, community-led impact looks like.
Slow. Careful. Transparent. Human.

And this is why every home we build stands on more than land,
it stands on trust. 🌏
