On Sunday morning at Melbourne’s Albert Park, cold weather, pouring rain and soaked ponchos couldn’t dampen the spirit of our incredible residents and staff from Calvary Bayview and Sandhurst Aged Care at this year’s Memory Walk & Jog.

For the second year in a row, our communities proudly came together to support people living with dementia, alongside their families and carers, by participating in the Dementia Australia event with thousands of Australians.

Despite the challenging weather, residents and staff walked side by side with determination, laughter and an incredible sense of community. General Manager Alex Zhang joined in to cheer everyone on throughout the event, as together we raised awareness and funds for a cause that touches so many lives.

Together, both homes raised an incredible $1,248 for Dementia Australia.

The day finished with a shared lunch where residents and staff reflected on the experience, the teamwork and the importance of supporting people impacted by dementia.

These photos only capture a small glimpse of the pride, joy and connection felt throughout the day. 💙

For 37 years, Pathma has spent her Saturdays volunteering at Calvary North Adelaide Hospital, building connections, supporting patients and making a difference through simple acts of kindness.

Over the decades, Pathma has built meaningful relationships with patients and staff, sharing warmth, support and companionship through her volunteer role. She says volunteering has taught her a great deal and even helped shape the way she cared for both her mother and husband at home.

“I’ve learnt a lot by volunteering. I’ve enjoyed interacting with the patients and staff. If I didn’t enjoy this interaction, I wouldn’t come!”

After nearly four decades of service, Pathma still looks forward to volunteering each week. Thank you, Pathma, for your extraordinary commitment, compassion and care over 37 years of volunteering. 💙

This week we celebrated a truly special milestone at our Calvary Sandhill Aged Care home, Eileen’s 107th birthday! 🎂🎈

Eileen chose a quiet celebration, enjoying marble cheesecake and a cup of tea with her daughter Patricia and the Sandhill team.

Born in Preston, England during WWI, Eileen has lived an incredible life across England, Australia, New Zealand and Tasmania. During WWII, she worked as an aide caring for injured servicemen, where she later met her husband John.

An incredible lady with a lifetime of stories behind her. Happy 107th Birthday, Eileen. 💙

When people hear “palliative care,” they often think movement should stop. But gentle, tailored exercise can play an important role in supporting strength, confidence, independence and emotional wellbeing.

This National Palliative Care Week, we’re highlighting how movement can support people living with life-limiting illness, and why exercise in palliative care is always guided by comfort, goals and quality of life.

For Herbert, colouring is more than a hobby, it’s a meaningful way to express himself.

While Herbert prefers quieter moments over group activities, he finds great joy in working on his latest masterpiece, especially when it features his favourite animal, the tiger.

At our Calvary St Francis aged care home, staff support Herbert’s love of colouring by regularly providing new pages and fresh sets of colours, proudly displaying each finished artwork on his wall. Seeing his creations showcased gives Herbert a sense of pride and encourages him to keep creating.

It’s through understanding what matters most to each resident that meaningful, person-centred care comes to life.

A proud moment for our retirement living team!

We’re pleased to share that Calvary Hyson Retirement Living Apartments has been named a National Finalist in the Best Community Development Small Operator category at the 2026 National Retirement Living Awards.

This builds on the recent recognition of Calvary Sydney Williams in the Innovation category, expanding access to retirement living through a rental model without large upfront costs.

Together, these projects reflect what matters most, giving older Australians more choice, greater access, and communities designed around how they want to live.

Congratulations to our teams, partners and residents who bring these communities to life, and thank you to our Head of Retirement Living Performance Mark Eagleston for his incredible leadership in driving this work across our portfolio. 👏

Hyson Apartments is all about creating a connected, low maintenance lifestyle for residents. If you’d like to learn more about the community, you can read more here: https://ow.ly/2X8K50YUl3G
