We are pleased to see some work being done down at Shire Hall Beach over the last couple of days with the installation of some new stairs.
It’s disappointing that the stairs are needed because the ramp that used to be in their place ended up so far out of the sand that it became a hazard and had to be removed. The old ramp allowed access for people with disabilities and prams to the beach.
The loss of sand at Shire Hall Beach continues unabated. Signifiant erosion of the sand dunes is now occurring. We would love to see the root cause of the erosion problem being properly investigated.

Caught up with Deputy Mayor Cr Paul Pingiaro as we head into our first briefing for 2026, and took the chance to check out the latest coastal infrastructure works.
I challenge anyone to point to a time when more was happening along our coastline – less talk, more action.
Thanks to the team for braving the early heat to get on with the job 👏
