Community Safety Update

A local police officer recently attended the latest Merbein Development Association meeting to listen to community concerns around safety, including:
• Crime
• Illegal to***co and v**e sales
• School student safety
• Antisocial behaviour

One key message stood out — for police to take action, they need information.
If you witness any illegal or concerning behaviour, please report it to Crime Stoppers. Every report helps build the bigger picture and gives our local police the information they need to act.

Merbein is a fantastic town with a strong and connected community. By looking out for one another and speaking up when something isn’t right, we can help ensure it remains a safe place for everyone.

Let’s work together to support our local police — so they can support us when it matters most.

" Mildura Rural City Council's Youth Engagement Services team is proud to present a family fun day at the Merbein Pool on Friday 13 February 2026 (rescheduled date from 27 January). Free entry for young people 17 and under.

From 2pm to 5pm, join us for a day filled with music, games, activities, and lots of prizes.

Enjoy a free BBQ dinner and Zooper Dooper!

🏆 Citizen of the Year – Terry “Moose” McGowan
Terry’s passion for Merbein shines through everything he does. From inspiring and mentoring the next generation of artists in our local schools, to leaving his creative mark across town—whether it’s the planter pots or the iconic magpies welcoming visitors to Kenny Park—his contributions can be seen everywhere. A thoroughly well-deserved honour for someone who gives so much to our community.
🌟 Senior Citizens of the Year – Anne & Syd Nash
Anne and Syd have been the backbone of the Merbein Great Vanilla Slice Triumph for many years. This wonderful event continues to grow from strength to strength and contributes so much to the broader community. Their dedication, energy and generosity embody the very spirit of Merbein.
Congratulations to all our recipients—and thank you for helping make Merbein such a vibrant, connected place to live. 👏
