😎 DO NOTHING THIS HEADSPACE DAY 😎

Tomorrow marks headspace Day and this year you're being encouraged to do nothing!

In this case, that means is taking an intentional step back from the demands of every day life, from our screens, and our all-round busyness. It's okay to take time for yourself, even 10 to 15 minutes.

What will 'doing nothing' look like for you?

🧠 TIPS FOR A HEALTHY HEADSPACE 🧠

Following R U OK? Day and World Su***de Prevention Day last week, we thought we'd share some tips for creating a 'healthy headspace' to help support young people in tough times.

GET INTO LIFE
Achieving small tasks and doing things you enjoy can boost your confidence and lift your mood.
Set small goals, find activities you enjoy and make a schedule.

LEARN SKILLS FOR TOUGH TIMES
Developing your own positive personal coping strategies can help make you more resilient, develop your self-awareness and build your confidence.
Notice how you respond in tough times and access support if you need help in building these skills.

CREATE CONNECTIONS
Healthy relationships are super important for your mental health. When you spend time with people you care about, who care about you, this can help you feel connected and supported.

EAT WELL
There is a strong link between what we eat and how we feel. Eating well helps give you more energy, helps you sleep better and improves your concentration.

STAY ACTIVE
Exercise is great for your wellbeing - but it doesn’t have to be running on the treadmill. It’s really anything that gets your body moving.
Activities like walking, playing sport, yoga, dancing or swimming will all help you release stress and give you a better chance of improving your mood.

GET ENOUGH SLEEP
Quality sleep is like a mental health superpower. When you get enough sleep, it's often easier to manage your emotions.
If you’re aged between 12–17 then 8 to 10 hours sleep is ideal, and 18–25 year olds should try to get 7 to 9 hours. Keep in mind that different people need slightly different amounts of sleep.

CUT BACK ON ALCOHOL AND OTHER DRUGS
Limiting alcohol and other drugs it can clear your mind, improve your energy, and boost your motivation.
Substance use can be a part of life for lots of people, but sometimes, it can start to feel like it's taking more than it's giving.

R U OK? Four letters, one important question.

Today marks both R U OK? Day and World Su***de Prevention Day, a time which encourages us to check in on the people we love and provide support where we can.

If you're worried about someone and aren't sure what to say, just start simple. You don't have to have all the answers, just be there for them 💚

Try some of these as examples:
"How are you going?"
"You don't seem like yourself, is everything alright?"
"What's been on your mind lately?"
"I'm here if you need anything"

Let the person know you're there to provide support, and give them space to open up.

It's okay if they're not ready to talk, they'll know you're there to help when they are.

If you have any further questions or want to make an appointment, you can contact us on 03 5021 2400.

Happy Wear it Purple Day 2026! 💜💜

Wear it Purple Day is an opportunity to continue building more inclusive environments for LGBTQIA+ young people.

This year's theme is Colours of Courage. Here at headspace Mildura, we are privileged to witness the courage of young people every day, and we are honoured to be a small part of their journey. Whether it is the big moments, such as giving a speech at a local pride event or the just as brave choices to live authentically as yourself, coming out, building a safe community and asking for support, it is all so inspiring. We also honour the courage of generations of LGBTQIA+ trailblazers who came before us and made such important change.

Some members of the headspace team attended Coomealla High School's celebration of Wear it Purple Day where students wrote positive messages for the LGBTQIA+ community, made stress balls and had a chat about what services we provide. Thank you for the invite Coomealla High School!

If you are a young person in the LGBTQIA+ community looking for a safe space to be yourself, please contact us to find out more about our social group Alphabet Soup.
