Northern Mallee LLEN (NMLLEN) helps school students undertaking VET as part of their VCE and VCAL studies, including School-based Apprenticeships and Traineeships (SBATs), to access Structured Workplace Learning (SWL) placements in industry and business. Exploring local industry and future career pathways!

A group of Year 11 students from Indie College recently visited Global Rotomoulding in Irymple to learn more about the business, the manufacturing industry, and the wide range of career opportunities available in the region.
Students were welcomed by Head of Operations Manager Judi, who provided an informative presentation and guided the group on a site tour. The visit gave students valuable insight into the day-to-day operations of a local manufacturing business, the skills required across different roles, and the pathways available into the industry.
Experiences like this help strengthen connections between education and employment, supporting young people to explore future career options and make informed decisions about their pathways.

It's hard to believe we're already in the final school term of the year. As students, teachers and families return to classrooms across the Northern Mallee, we're excited for a term filled with new opportunities, achievements and celebrations.
Term 4 is a time to build on the learning, experiences and connections made throughout the year. At Northern Mallee LLEN, we look forward to continuing to work in partnership with schools, employers, training providers and community organisations to support young people as they explore their future pathways and make informed decisions about education, training and employment.
We wish all students, educators and school communities a positive and successful start to the term. Let's make the most of the opportunities ahead and finish the year strong together!

🌟 Term 3 1,227 Student Engagements and Counting! 🌟

From 13th July to 18 September, Northern Mallee LLEN has delivered a wide range of career education, industry engagement and work-readiness activities for young people across our region.

Our recorded student engagement included:

✅ 355 students in July

✅ 361 students in August

✅ 511 Students in September

🎉 1,227 student engagements in total.

From mock interviews, GET VET presentations and career events to industry visits, agriculture experiences, workplace preparation, industry panels and VIC VICE virtual reality sessions, students gained valuable opportunities to explore future education, training and employment pathways. Along with the SCN Careers PD Day.

A huge thank you to our schools, industry partners, guest speakers and the Northern Mallee LLEN team for helping make these opportunities possible.

Celebrating a Significant Milestone with VIC VICE

Northern Mallee LLEN is proud to celebrate an incredible achievement by our valued partner, VIC VICE (Virtual Reality Career Experience), which has now engaged more than 25,000 students across Victoria since launching in 2024.

Through our partnership with VIC VICE, we have been able to bring innovative career exploration opportunities to students across our region, helping young people experience a wide range of industries and occupations through immersive virtual reality technology.
For many regional students, access to diverse career experiences can be challenging. VIC VICE is helping to bridge this gap by providing engaging, hands-on insights into future pathways and occupations, supporting informed career decision-making and expanding awareness of opportunities across Victoria.

At Northern Mallee LLEN, we are committed to strengthening pathways between education, training and employment. Our collaboration with VIC VICE demonstrates how innovative partnerships can help connect students with industries, inspire future workforce participation, and improve outcomes for young people in regional communities.

✨ Exploring possibilities and expanding horizons! ✨

At Northern Mallee LLEN, we're passionate about supporting young people to discover the many pathways available to them as they begin thinking about their future.

It was wonderful to see the Year 7 and 8 students at Trinity Lutheran College engaging with the VIC VICE Careers Incursion, exploring a diverse range of industries and career opportunities. Early career education plays an important role in building awareness, confidence and aspirations, helping students connect their interests and strengths with future learning and employment pathways.

A big thank you to Trinity Lutheran College for their ongoing commitment to career development, and to Sherie and Haidee for facilitating this valuable experience and helping students explore the world of work.

By working in partnership with schools, industry and community, we can continue strengthening pathways and creating opportunities for young people across our region.

🎤 Mock Interview Day at Mildura Senior College!

Today, Northern Mallee LLEN was pleased to support students at Mildura Senior College as they participated in mock interviews, helping them build confidence and develop the skills needed for future employment and training opportunities.

Mock interviews provide valuable real-world experience, allowing students to practise communicating their strengths, answering interview questions, and presenting themselves professionally in a supportive environment.

A big thank you to the volunteers, industry representatives and school staff who generously shared their time and expertise to help prepare young people for their next steps beyond school.

By working together, we are strengthening pathways between education, training and employment, and supporting young people to make informed decisions about their futures.

📢 VET Expressions of Interest for 2027 have now closed!

A huge congratulations to all secondary schools across the Northern Mallee for their outstanding support in helping students explore Vocational Education and Training (VET) pathways.

We are excited to share that more than 360 Expressions of Interest (EOIs) have been received for 2027 programs.

This strong response follows the success of the Northern Mallee Vet Cluster Get VET Roadshow, which engaged with over 470 students across the region. Even more encouraging, 77% of students who attended the roadshow went on to submit an EOI, highlighting the value of providing young people with opportunities to learn about future education, training and employment pathways.

Thank you to the schools, staff, students and partners who supported the roadshow and the EOI process. Together, we are strengthening pathways and helping young people make informed decisions about their futures.

We look forward to supporting the next stage of the VET enrolment process.

🚗 1,358 kilometres. More than 350 students. Countless conversations about future pathways.

Across the first three terms of 2026, the Northern Mallee LLEN team has travelled throughout our region, connecting with schools and students from Robinvale to Murrayville, Ouyen to Werrimull and communities in between.

Covering 1,358 kilometres, we have engaged with more than 350 students, supporting young people to explore their options for education, training and employment.

These visits are an important part of building strong connections between schools, industry and community, ensuring students across our vast region have access to career education, pathway planning and meaningful opportunities close to home.

No matter where a young person lives in the Northern Mallee, they deserve access to information, support and opportunities that help them achieve their goals.

Thank you to the schools, students and community partners who continue to welcome us and work alongside us to strengthen pathways for young people across our region.

Together for Health: Industry Panel Inspires Mildura Senior College Students

Students at Mildura Senior College recently had the opportunity to hear directly from industry professionals during the Together for Health: Allied Health, Community Services and Creative Industries Industry Panel.

Facilitated by Dale Harvey from Northern Mallee LLEN, the 90-minute panel brought together representatives from a diverse range of organisations, including Mildura Disability Support Services, Shine Bright Wetlands Drive, Mildura Base Public Hospital Recruitment, Sunraysia Community Health Services, and SuniTAFE, Sunraysia Institute Of TAFE Community Services and Nursing programs.

The discussion was driven by the panel members, who shared their experiences, career journeys, industry insights, and the pathways available within their respective sectors. Students gained valuable knowledge about the skills, qualifications, and personal attributes that support success in health, community services, and creative industries.

Sessions like these play an important role in strengthening connections between education, training, and employment, helping young people make informed decisions about their future pathways while gaining a deeper understanding of the opportunities available within their local community.

A big thank you to all panel members for generously sharing their time, knowledge, and experiences, and to Mildura Senior College for continuing to support career exploration opportunities for students.
