Sunbury
Eastern grey kangaroo assessment mop not sure if injured as it’s been in one spot for a few hours on assessment roo is healthy and hopped off.

Gisborne
Ringtail possum on ground appears unwell rescued and taken to vet.

Newham
Injured kangaroo unable to hop or move.

Sunbury
Galah unable to fly.

Woodend
Ringtail possum on ground has a large wound on its foot.

Melton west
Advice wood duck hanging around since Wednesday with her deceased partner. Live one isn’t injured just grieving the loss. 😭

Werribee
Stubble quail mop was worried s/he was injured as it had been seen sitting in one spot on arrival to assess the quail moves and flys very well.

Another 2 little masked lapwings (plover) chicks in care from Sunbury after being found cold and lethargic, parents were around protecting but were not keeping them warm. So we intervened on the grounds that it was a cold night and they looked like they were deteriorating quickly there little chirps getting weaker and weaker as they call for their parents. Brought them to the shelter warmed them up was worried they may not survive the night which they did 🙂 we tried to reunite the next day but unfortunately was another unsuccessful attempt. So they now join our other little one who is also from Sunbury (no relation)

Thank you to the people who called for advice on what to do they wouldn’t have survived if the parents didn’t return.

Yesterday late afternoon we picked up a Little Masked lapwing (plover) from Sunbury animal hospital who was found by Jake, cold and unresponsive at a construction site in Sunbury, assuming he/she has been abandoned by parents or it’s possible the little one just couldn’t keep up with its family as they may have been frightened from all the noise and machinery.

S/he is doing really well and is eating and drinking sadly we were unable to locate its family this morning to try to reunite back. So will stay in care until old enough to be released back.

Thank you Jake for saving this little one’s life, definitely wouldn’t have made the night if you didn’t.

This little ringtail possum joey was found today by Helen in Sunbury, sitting alone in the middle of the road. Thankfully, he was spotted just in time, narrowly avoiding being hit by a passing car or falling victim to a cat.

On rescue, he was cold, and lethargic. After receiving warmth, fluids, and supportive care, he has responded beautifully. He’s now much brighter, alert, and doing really well.

A huge thank you to Helen for stopping to help. Every rescue counts, and taking the time to check on our native wildlife can truly save a life. We’ll continue to monitor this little one as he recovers. 🩶🌿

A wonderful reminder that taking a moment to stop and help can make all the difference. 💚🦘
