“I’ve been a student of the picture book all my life.” Andrea Rowe collects ideas for her own storybooks much like a bowerbird collects treasures. For Andrea it’s new places, phrases, landscapes and the sea that often stir her imagination.

Ahead of her new book release, we spoke with the award winning children’s author, learning more about her childhood, her writing inspiration and love for libraries (and playgroups!) 📚📒☺️

There is so much fun to be had at Tootgarook Little Frogs Playgroup 🐸 Run by run by two dedicated volunteers, Messy Mel and Science Sam 🤗 Every week instead of a story time they run a science experiment. It is well loved, even when it’s a failure!

The children enjoy a variety of activities each week including painting, craft, sensory time, imaginative play and water play. Don’t forget to wear your old clothes and get ready to enjoy messy, playful, creative moments ☺️

The playgroup meets at the welcoming Tootgarook Primary school. An important note for parents and carers- the playgroup has use of the barista. Cheers to that! ☕️🥳

"It brings me so much joy to reflect on how far our playgroup has come.” 🌈☺️ A nurturing environment has grown within the playgroup at Campbellfield Heights Primary School with the help of local mum Amal who has welcomed families, showing great care. Amal is being celebrated as a Playgroup Champion for her dedication and thoughtfulness, creating a safe space for families to play and find a sense of belonging.

“The connection that has been built between the families and myself is truly amazing- we really have become like a little family.” 💜
