WERN is looking for caring volunteers to help keep essential support flowing to families across Melbourne’s west, whether that’s collecting donated furniture and household goods or lending a hand in our Ravenhall warehouse.

You’ll be joining a passionate, welcoming community working together to help local families create a safe and comfortable home.

Our warehouse is where your generosity begins its journey of becoming someone else’s fresh start.

🚐 WERN needs drivers and jockeys
We’re doing it tough right now with volunteer shortages, and the next few months will be especially challenging. We are urgently seeking van drivers (regular car licence is all you need) and jockeys to help with navigation and lifting.

Even one day a week would make a huge difference.

Your day starts and ends at our Ravenhall warehouse, collecting valuable donated furniture and household goods from generous families across Melbourne’s western suburbs.

💙 Huge thanks to the team at O'Brien Energy Engineered!
This week they generously provided free Test & Tag training to 15 of our amazing WERN volunteers. This safety accreditation means donated appliances can be checked and cleared before heading to a family in need – and our newly trained crew has already jumped in to tackle the backlog of kitchen appliances waiting to be tested.
And yes… there is a backlog! Our community has been wonderfully generous with donations lately, but WERN currently only has two Test & Tag meters (one very old!) to keep up with the demand.

As the colder months approach, we’re calling on our incredible network - Rotary Club members, volunteers, community supporters and agency partners - to help us boost support for families doing it tough this winter.

Here’s how you can make a real impact:

3. Help us source winter essentials like blankets, doonas, heaters and dryers.

🏆Wyndham residents, you’ve done it again!
An amazing 228 carloads rolled through the recent Wyndham Pop‑Up Recycling and Donation Day. Our wonderful WERN volunteers turned that generosity into two full truckloads of quality household donated goods for our clients.

Big thanks to Wyndham Council for funding the second truck and its fuel.
