VIEW Club Maryborough

VIEW Club Maryborough Maryborough branch of VIEW - a national women's volunteer organisation. Maryborough VIEW Club was formed in 2020.

We meet once a month at the Maryborough Services Club, 163-175 Lennox Street on the second Friday of the month - 11.00am, for a 11.30 start. Currently, the Club sponsors five Smith Family Learning for Life students, helps to provide funds for older students to have internet access, and is actively involved in fundraising activities to raise donations for The Smith Family programs. Today's General luncheon meeting was both a fun day and also a sad day.
Our Program Officers had organised a few fun activities for our members but we were also saying goodbye to Jill, who has been our Assistant Secretary/Secretary since our inauguration, as she is moving interstate.
Ann read out a beautiful 'Ode to Jill' she had written & Jenni had a short 'ditty' about Jill. Jill was advised that she could stay a member of our club and when she moves to NSW, she could cross the border and get a 50c train fare to Gympie and we could collect her to attend our meetings. The cake had a train & a sign pointing to Maryborough VIEW Club & written on the cake - 'Jill, You will always be a part of us and we will miss you.
Thank you Jill for your assistance, friendship and dedication to our VIEW Club.

A big thank you to Kel and her team for supporting our club at the Handmade Artisan Fraser Coast Market today. The Mothers Day market was a great success for our club raising more funds for the Australian children's charity, The Smith Family. Our ladies baked lots of goodies for us to sell on our stall and all funds from these sales goes to The Smith Family. Thank you to everyone who supported us today and hope you enjoy your home baked goodies.
Our major raffle was also drawn today and the winning ticket of the beautiful hand made necklace was #1884748 Pauline. Second prize went to ticket # 2243750 Elizabeth - congratulations to both winners and thank you to everyone who supported our raffle by purchasing tickets.

Yesterday our club celebrated Mothers Day at our monthly luncheon held at the Maryborough Services Club. The ladies had the tables decorated beautifully in tones of pink & silver. Three of our newest members were presented with their VIEW Club name badges and welcome kits. We had a special guest speaker who told us about the Second Life Women's Hub and how they got the 'little pink house' established. We also had a visit from Eris, who was our first Vice Present when our club was formed and is now with the Bundaberg VIEW Club.
Today, lots of our members have been busy baking cakes, biscuits, slices, muffins etc., ready for our Mothers Day stall at the Handmade Artisan Fraser Coast markets tomorrow. Come along & say hello & enjoy some delicious home baking. Our major raffle will also be drawn tomorrow at the markets - so grab a ticket, only $1.00 each, & you may be the lucky winner of a beautiful hand made necklace.

This morning we paused to honour the courage, sacrifice and unwavering spirit of the men and women who have served-and continue to serve-our country.
At dawn we remembered their bravery, their resilience, and the freedoms we hold because of them.
May we carry their legacy with gratitude and pride.

What a great social outing our club had today. A group of us (& a couple of husbands) visited the Maryborough Military Aviation Museum. We were given a great introduction to the Museum, then a very informative guided tour of some of the sites along the walking tour. Unfortunately we were very time restricted as we could have spent many hours seeing and hearing about the history of the wartime training base etc.
We then went to the Sports Club where we all enjoyed a lovely lunch as well as enjoying each others company. Thank you to the ladies who organised this social outing.

Friday 10th April was our club's belated Easter meeting and the tables were set beautifully with gorgeous baskets of fresh flowers. There was a 'guess how many chocolates in the jars' competition for each table & our 4 April birthday ladies were presented with their tiaras to wear for the day.
We had so many beautiful raffle prizes and most of them went to ladies sitting at one (lucky) table - well done ladies. The trivia game got everyone's brain working with a little bit of cheating from some but it was all fun with lots of laughter. Out trading table was again a great fund raiser for our club.
Our next luncheon meeting will be Friday 8th May with a Mothers Day theme & possibly a guest speaker.

Happy Birthday to our members who are celebrating their birthdays this month. Hope you all get spoiled by your family &/or friends on your special day.
Also, wishing everyone a Happy & safe Easter. Hope the Easter bunny visits everyone & brings lots of chocolates to enjoy.
