RDT Angels Inc Celebrates 10 Years of Helping the Maryborough Community
This August marks a very special milestone for RDT Angels Inc as we celebrate 10 years of supporting the Maryborough community.
Our charity is run entirely by a small group of dedicated volunteers whose passion and commitment have helped thousands of local families over the past decade.
Seven years ago, we launched our Grab & Go Lunch Stations program in local schools, providing children with fresh fruit and nutritious lunch bags containing items such as cheese, crackers, health bars, baked beans, spaghetti and other easy-to-eat foods.
Our support extends far beyond lunches. We also provide clothing, shoes, school bags, lunch boxes, books and classroom supplies to children who need them most. Working alongside local organisations, schools and social workers, we assist vulnerable members of our community and provide food hampers for families experiencing hardship.
The need continues to grow, with demand increasing by approximately 20% each financial year. Last year alone, 34,754 meals were provided to people in need through our various programs.
Our community support doesn't stop there. Throughout the year, we supply morning tea and fresh fruit for our dedicated Meals on Wheels volunteers, provide pet food to local animal shelters, and each quarter our committee donates to a worthy local cause.
Our fundraising is driven by our popular roadside burger van, located just off the Bruce Highway on Alice Street, every Wednesday and Saturday from 8:00 am until approximately 12:30 pm (or until sold out). Every burger purchased helps us continue supporting those who need it most.
We Need Your Help!
We're urgently looking for more volunteers to join our amazing team.
We're seeking:
• Volunteers to help at our burger van one Saturday each month from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm.
• A driver and helper to deliver supplies to local schools every Monday during school terms, from 7:00 am to 11:30 am, using our charity vehicle.
