🌼 Daffodil Day with Cancer Council Queensland 🌼

Tuesday evening was a particularly special night for our club members as we came together for a Daffodil Day dinner with Amy Wallace from Cancer Council Queensland, held in memory of two very special members of our Rotary family, Greg Bushnell and Tom Mellers.

Amy shared an incredibly insightful presentation about the wonderful services Cancer Council Queensland provides to support people living with cancer and their families. This includes accommodation assistance and car services for people who need to travel for cancer treatment, helping ease some of the practical and financial challenges that can come with a cancer diagnosis.

Amy also spoke about Cancer Council Queensland’s free Will service, available to anyone, with the opportunity to leave a donation to Cancer Council in their Will.

It was a meaningful evening of remembrance, connection and learning, and a wonderful way to honour Greg and Tom while supporting a cause that makes such a difference to so many people and families.

A heartfelt thank you to Amy for joining us and sharing the incredible work of Cancer Council Queensland with our club. 💛🌼

In memory of Greg Bushnell and Tom Mellers, fellow Rotarians and our friends, and in support of those affected by cancer.

Last Tuesday, Pine Rivers Rotary Club was delighted to welcome two very special visitors to our meeting. 🌟

🧠 Marcy — a Licensed Mental Health First Aid Instructor, Provisional Psychologist and Dental Hygienist, with more than 10 years’ experience across healthcare and community services.

Marcy is also the daughter of a Past President of a Rotary Club in Rotary District 9210 (Zimbabwe). She delivered an insightful presentation on mental health literacy and reducing the stigma that can often prevent people from seeking support.

Marcy’s goal is not only to equip people with the confidence to recognise and respond to mental health challenges, but also to help create communities where people feel safe to seek help when they need it. 💙

Thank you, Marcy, for sharing your knowledge and passion with us. We look forward to partnering with you on future events!

🌏 We also welcomed Owen Hodgson, Immediate Past President of Chiang Mai International Rotary Club (CMIRC), Thailand.

CMIRC’s vision is “To improve the safety, health and education of children in Northern Thailand.”

Their club is doing some incredible work in their community. Last year, they:
👓 Conducted eye checks for more than 800 children and provided around 150 pairs of glasses
💧 Provided Water Safety and Drowning Prevention education to more than 800 children
🚰 Completed a three-year Global Grant providing water and sanitation to 21 Highland Villages

It was wonderful to hear about the meaningful impact CMIRC is making across Northern Thailand and to share ideas about service and collaboration. 🌏🤝

Pine Rivers Rotary Club always welcomes new guests and inspiring speakers!

If you would like to arrange a visit or speak at one of our meetings, please contact us at [email protected].

Every person we support has someone behind them.

Not a government grant. Not a pharmaceutical company. A person - or a club - that decided community mental health was worth backing.

This month, we want to say thank you.

To every club that ran a fundraiser. Every donor who gives regularly. Every District Chair who made ARH part of their club year.

You're why the work gets done. It’s only because of you.

If you'd like to nominate a Rotarian or club to be recognised in our end-of-year impact report, send us a message or email [[email protected]].

This month's “What if…?” question:

What if every young person experiencing a mental health crisis could be supported by someone who grew up in their community - who understands their culture, their family, their world?

Some of the programs we back are already building toward that.

Not hypothetically. Right now. Because of you.

That's what your support makes possible.

✨ Rotary Club of Pine Rivers Changeover Dinner 2026–2027 ✨

On Tuesday, 30 June, we celebrated our annual Changeover Dinner, marking the beginning of an exciting new Rotary year.

It was an honour to officially welcome Bree Boag as the 2026–2027 Club President, with the induction conducted by District Governor Ian Hope. We also extend our sincere thanks to Immediate Past President Darren Limbach for his presidency over the past year as he transitions into the role of Club Treasurer. Congratulations also to Robyn Bushnell, who takes on the most important role of Club Secretary. What a great team!

A special thank you to Councillor Yvonne Barlow and friend of Rotary Jenny Wright, who entertained everyone with their wonderful singing throughout the evening and helped make the night so memorable.

We were incredibly grateful to see so many members, friends, family, and community supporters join us to celebrate this special occasion. Your support means so much, and we look forward to another fantastic year of service, friendship, and making a positive difference in our community.

Here’s to a successful 2026–2027 Rotary year! 💙💛
