Lawnton Guides had a great time tonight at the Bunnings Family Easter night.

Helping with DIY crafts, enjoying a scavenger hunt, cuddling all the baby animals and a visit from the Easter bunny🐰

Today we joined Girl Guides from all over Queensland in Roma Street Parklands to celebrate 100 years of World Thinking Day.

School teaches:
✏️ Maths
📚 Reading
🧪 Science
📝 How to put your name on your work (vital life skill)

All genuinely important.
We are fans. Big fans. 👏

But guiding teaches the other stuff — the bits that don’t come with a textbook.

Guiding teaches:
✔ How to walk into a room full of strangers and survive
✔ How to speak up and listen (both matter)
✔ How to get something wrong without the world ending
✔ How to lead a group without bossing it
✔ How to try new things without being instantly amazing
✔ How to say “this feels scary” and do it anyway

School builds knowledge.
Guiding builds confidence to use it.

School has lessons.
Guiding has life practice (with snacks).

Different roles. Same goal.
Raising capable, confident humans 💛

Girl Guides Queensland is looking for women to help inspire the next generation of confident, capable girls, and we’d love you on the team 💪

As a volunteer, you’ll build leadership skills, make lifelong connections, be inspired to get outdoors and see the real impact of your time each week. No previous experience needed just enthusiasm and a willingness to support girls to thrive.

In your local area we are currently seeking:

🔹 Unit Helpers
🔹 Support Group Members

You can give a little of your time by helping out at weekly Guide meetings, or you can go all in! Leadership, camping, adventure, the lot!
