What's the book you never forgot? πŸ“š

Today is International Literacy Day.

Reading gives us much more than information.

Books can take us somewhere we've never been, introduce us to people we've never met and help us understand experiences completely different from our own.

Sometimes one book stays with us for decades.

So today we'd love to build a KCLC Community Reading List.

πŸ‘‡ Tell us ONE book you think everyone should read at least once.

Children's books absolutely count!

Community connection isn't a luxury.

A conversation over coffee.

A craft group.

Exercise.

Learning something new.

Volunteering.

A community meal.

Knowing somebody will notice when you haven't turned up.

These seemingly small connections matter.

Building healthier communities isn't only about providing services when things go wrong.

It's also about creating places where people belong.

If you are looking for the place you are comfortable to connect contact KCLC on 58520000 or email [email protected] or check out our website at www.kclc.com.au.

Don't wait. Reach out today.

Keeping children safe is everyone's business.

This week is National Child Protection Week.

Children are safest when they are surrounded by strong families, supportive services and communities that listen to them.

That means creating environments where children:

πŸ’› are listened to
πŸ’› know their feelings matter
πŸ’› understand they can say no
πŸ’› know which adults they can trust
πŸ’› are included in decisions that affect them
πŸ’› feel safe asking for help.

Child safety isn't something we think about only when something goes wrong.

It is something we build into our everyday interactions, organisations and communities.

Every conversation matters β€” and every one of us can help create a community where children are safe, supported and heard.

πŸ”Ž THINK YOU KNOW KYABRAM?

We're putting that theory to the test!

As part of Kyabram's 150-year celebration, KCLC is launching a Kyabram Town Hunt for the September school holidays.

Grab your family, collect your clues and explore the town to discover some of the places, stories and little details that make Kyabram unique.

πŸ›οΈ What has changed?

πŸ‘€ What have you walked past hundreds of times without noticing?

πŸ“– What stories are hiding behind familiar places?

πŸ€” And what might the kids know that the adults don't?

It's an opportunity to get outside, explore together and learn a little more about the place we call home.

Whether you've lived in Kyabram for five minutes, five years or five generations β€” there might still be something you don't know!

πŸ“… The hunt launches Saturday 19 September and will run throughout the school holidays.

Get ready to explore 150 years of Kyabram!

πŸ’› SOMETIMES IT HELPS TO BE AROUND PEOPLE WHO JUST GET IT.

Living with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) can bring experiences that aren't always easy to explain β€” and that's where connection can make a difference.

The MS Support Group meets at KCLC on the first Monday of every month.

Happy Father's Day πŸ’™

Today we celebrate dads β€” but also recognise that families come in many different shapes.

So today we're celebrating dads, stepdads, grandfathers, foster dads, uncles, carers, mentors and all the people who provide the encouragement, patience, guidance and love children need.

We also recognise that Father's Day can be complicated.

For some it is a day of celebration.

For others it brings memories, grief, separation or relationships that haven't been easy.

However today looks for you, we hope there is a little kindness in it.

Happy Father's Day from everyone at KCLC.

🏠 A home is more than four walls and a roof.

It's somewhere to sleep safely.

Somewhere to keep your belongings.

An address for work, school and appointments.

And somewhere you can close the door and simply feel at home.

KCLC has several social housing properties because we know that secure housing creates a foundation for everything else.

Just another way KCLC is working alongside our community. πŸ’›
