Day 2 of our LIFT Exec Program for 2026 πŸ™Œ

Today was a great opportunity for our attendees to gather together for the second time to learn and grow within their leadership roles. ⭐

Our leaders today had the opportunity learn about protocols that they can use amongst their leadership teams, self care initiates for them to use for themselves and implement and also tips on how to manage complex conversations. πŸ€—

We are looking forward to our final day in September!

Yesterday afternoon, we held a twilight session on "AI & Assessment: Shifting the conversation" presented by Adrian Cotterell.

This was a great session for our attendees to be able to join and discuss how AI is currently being used in schools and ways it can also be managed.

Thank you to Adrian for presenting to us about your expertise in this field along with Thinking Mode.

Last night Kirsty Amos (SASPA Chief Executive) attended the Australian Council for Educational Leadership (ACEL) South Australia Awards Ceremony and it was a wonderful celebration of educational leadership and the impact that outstanding leaders have on students, staff, schools and communities.
It was particularly pleasing to see South Australian public education leaders recognised among this year’s recipients.

Congratulations to the ACEL Fellowship recipients:
πŸ‘ Dr Michelle Kohler, Principal, School of Languages
πŸ‘ Anna Mirasgentis, Principal, Woodville High School
ACEL Fellowships recognise leaders who have made significant contributions to educational leadership and influenced practice beyond their own sites through service to the profession and educational community.

Congratulations also to the ACEL Leadership Award recipients:
πŸ‘ Roy Page, Principal, Norwood International High School
πŸ‘ Rebecca Huddy, Principal, Westport Primary School
The ACEL Leadership Award recognises educators who have demonstrated excellence in leading initiatives, research or policy that improves outcomes for students and colleagues.
A special congratulations to Anna and the talented Woodville High School jazz ensemble, whose performance added something truly special to the evening.
Recognition such as this highlights the depth of leadership expertise across South Australian public education and the difference it makes in the lives of young people every day.
Congratulations to all award recipients and nominees.

This morning SASPA Chief Executive, Kirsty Amos had the pleasure of visiting Wirreanda Secondary School and seeing firsthand the incredible work taking place across the school community. ⭐

She was guided by three impressive Year 12 students, Maddie, Emma and Ameera, and Principal Karla Pobke. It was wonderful to hear the school's story through the eyes of its students while seeing learning in action.

Highlights included the recently refurbished VET facilities, innovative STEM learning spaces and welcoming wellbeing areas. It was also a delight to meet Iris, the school's assistance Labrador, who provides comfort and companionship to students and staff. ✨

The impact of programs such as Clontarf and STARS was evident, reflecting the school's commitment to helping students thrive academically, socially and emotionally.

What stood out most was how clearly Wirreanda's vision of developing respectful, resilient and responsible learners is being lived every day. 🀝

Thank you to Karla, staff and students for your warm welcome. It was inspiring to see a community so committed to creating opportunities, fostering belonging and preparing young people for the future.

One year ago today, we launched our β€œOur Schools: It Takes A Team” media campaign, celebrating all aspects of support around the student within South Australian public secondary schools to thrive every day. πŸ‘

Over the past year, we’ve shared stories of student success, leadership, innovation and community connection from across our public education system. Each story has highlighted one important message: Everyone plays a role in making public schools great places to learn and grow! πŸ“£

To every Principal, leader, educator, support staff member, student and families who has contributed to this campaign, thank you for helping showcase the impact of public education in South Australia.

We are proud of what has been achieved over the last 12 months and look forward to continuing to advocate and celebrate our schools. ✨
