We've been visiting yards across SA and the Territory this past week – including TGE, Linfox, FedEx, BevChain and Torrens Transit – speaking with members as part of our work on over 200 aligned agreements to lift standards across transport 👷🏻‍♂️

These workers keep the industry moving, and we're fighting for better pay and conditions to future-proof the entire industry ✊

A big welcome to our new members, and thanks to our delegates for backing these report-backs! 🙌

Proud of owner‑driver Frank Black for speaking out in Guardian Australia about the pressures facing small operators as standards across the industry continue to slip.

"Once you get a blowout in your fuel the way it has, it absolutely destroys the smaller operators,” Frank says.

Watch his interview to see how these pressures are impacting workers across the industry 👇

'Even when there wasn't a fuel crisis, there was always slim margins in trucking,' says Frank, a truck driver who has spent 40 years on the road

More transport options can be good, but not if drivers are left exhausted or underpaid.

Transport workers rallied in Canberra this week with a clear message: Amazon must stop dragging standards down.

Gig models like Amazon Flex exploit workers, undercut decent operators and make our roads more dangerous.

It’s time for wealthy clients to pay up for fair, safe jobs.

On 15 May 1865, the Carters’ Association met for their first dinner to address low rates, rising costs and growing undercutting.

That gathering at the Wakefield Hotel became one of the earliest moments of transport workers organising for fairer conditions, a fight the TWU continues to lead across the industry today ✊

A world-first hearing got underway today for minimum pay and conditions for food delivery workers. Check out some of the coverage ✊

Cabin crew do critical safety work, yet their award doesn’t reflect the demands and risks of the job.

The TWU is continuing our case in the Fair Work Commission to lift pay, set fairer duty hours, secure enforceable breaks and improve classifications to reflect the principles of same job, same pay. We’ve also filed expert evidence on fatigue to show the real safety pressures cabin crew face every day.

We are backing cabin crew — and fighting for safe and secure skies for all! ✊

When airlines walk away from regional routes, workers and communities feel it first.

This is why the TWU is pushing for a Safe and Secure Skies Commission — to protect aviation jobs, lift standards and hold airports and airlines to account ✊

📸 Scenes from today’s May Day rally in Darwin!

A chance to recognise what we’ve achieved together: real pay rises, safer yards and protections that lift standards across the transport industry ✊

We're proud of every TWU member who shows up, speaks up and keeps pushing for better 💪

⛽ Last week, TWU and ARTIO’s joint application delivered a major win after the FWC issued its first Contract Chain Order, forcing top supply chain clients to finally pay their share of soaring fuel costs.

✊ TWU fought hard to secure this outcome, with member Frank Black giving evidence during the hearing.
