The upcoming Ag Horizons Forum in Kingaroy will bring together growers, producers, industry advocates and regional communities for a clear-eyed look at the pressures shaping agriculture.

At a time when the sector is under strain, the forum will draw on speakers with deep experience across farming, policy and regional business to unpack where things stand and what comes next.

Keynote speaker Rachel Chambers will be joined by Robbie Katter, Professor Derek Baker and Josh Gadischke, each offering a different perspective on the challenges facing producers and regional communities.

Discussions will range from the lessons out of the peanut industry’s decline, to the realities of global markets, supply chain pressures and what it takes to build and sustain a business from regional Australia.

For those working in, or alongside, agriculture, it is a rare chance to hear directly from people dealing with these issues at every level.

Ag Horizons Forum
19 June 2026 | 9 am - 3 pm
Kingaroy Town Hall - Glendon Street

The Ag Horizons Forum was created in response to growing concern about the profitability of farming in Australia, and the pressures now affecting food production, processing and the broader regional economy. It began with the impact felt after the closure of the Peanut Company of Australia facility in Kingaroy, but the conversation has grown well beyond a single industry.

This forum will give farmers, agribusiness operators and community leaders a place to share ideas and focus on practical ways to strengthen agricultural businesses and support the regions that depend on them.

With speakers including Queensland Food Farmers Commissioner Rachel Chambers, the event is expected to spark important discussion about the future of farming and regional resilience.

Regional Development Australia Wide Bay Burnett is a proud sponsor of the forum, alongside South Burnett Regional Council .

Profitability in agriculture is on the agenda at the upcoming Ag Horizons Forum, a new regional gathering shaped by farmers and community leaders following the closure of the Peanut Company of Australia facility in Kingaroy last year.

The forum was formed out of concern about the mounting pressures facing Australian agriculture and the flow-on risk to food manufacturing, processing, and the long-term viability of regional economies. While the peanut industry helped spark the conversation, the focus has widened to include all agricultural sectors and the communities that rely on them.

Ag Horizons will bring together farmers, business leaders and regional representatives to share ideas, explore practical solutions and look at how to strengthen the future of agriculture and regional industry.

Special guest speakers include Queensland Food Farmers Commissioner Rachel Chambers, alongside other industry voices contributing to what is expected to be a significant conversation about the future of regional Australia.

Regional Development Australia Wide Bay Burnett is a proud sponsor of the forum, alongside South Burnett Regional Council.
