Tracey here!

First, let me start off by saying what a whirlwind few months! Seeing young people build confidence and discover their potential is why I love what I do!

In September, I ran a trial of the Journey to a Job program (which, for those of you playing at home is a program we developed for year 10 students that covers all aspects of what is involved in finding a job.), in Gympie, and the results were really encouraging. Employers who took part said it’s exactly the kind of program that should be in every school, helping young people learn how to present themselves confidently and make a strong first impression when applying for work.

The students were engaged and genuinely enjoyed the sessions (many even said they wished it ran longer!). Based on feedback, we extended the program for another three weeks, giving students more time to complete their resumes and cover letters before the final session, which included live interviews with employers.

Schools are already expressing interest in delivering the program next year, starting with Gympie Flexi School. It’s great to see this kind of enthusiasm for helping local students prepare for the world of work.

I have a few other things I cannot wait to share with you as we barrel towards the end of 2025.

Please reach out to me if you would like to learn more or have teen keen in taking on apprenticeship or traineeship >>> [email protected]

Ergon Energy Network, Energex and TAFE Queensland have come together to offer high school students a valuable start in the energy industry through the 2026 Ergon Energy Network and Energex Pre-apprenticeship Program.

This program gives Year 11 and 12 students the chance to complete a Certificate II in Electrotechnology (Career Start) while gaining practical experience through online workshops, on-campus learning and real-world training at local Ergon Energy Network and Energex depots, including opportunities close to Gympie.

It’s a great way to explore a career in the energy sector and build skills that can lead to future apprenticeships and employment. Applications are open now and close at 9am on Monday 22 September 2025.

Let's celebrate the wins!

Here's a few worth sharing!

A local builder signed one of our students into a carpentry apprenticeship after a successful trial.

A student from Gympie Flexi, who’s been working hard to build her confidence, landed a casual job at Woolworths after work experience at Bunnings.
...And....

A home-schooling student just secured a traineeship with Landcare, starting in September.

I have to say, I am more than a bit over the moon! These stories don’t always make headlines, but they matter. Sometimes it takes a bit of time, a few knock-backs, and someone in your corner. I cannot shout to the rafters louder or often enough that “everyone’s journey is different… and that’s ok!” … That’s what I’m here for at GCPP….

Reach out if you have any questions, Tracey 😃

The good folk at Jobmatch Employment have news worth sharing with the Gympie region.

Aptly named Gympie Green Solutions, it’s not easy being green lends itself somewhat to the overall operations, leaning into the social enterprise space in that it gives people with disabilities a pathway to open employment while reducing landfill in our region.

It’s a full wraparound service: staff count your containers while you stay in your car, clean bins can be dropped to your business and collected when full, and your refund can go to your bank account or charity.

Eligible containers include cans, plastic drink bottles, and wine or spirit bottles.

For more information or if you know of any organisations that may be interested in this service, contact >>> [email protected]

Tracey here again….

I’ve been out and about lately, visiting schools across the region for subject selection and career pathway sessions. Victory College, Gympie State High School, Gympie Flexible School, Mawarra Independent School, Gympie Special School, My St Patrick's College, and Cooloola Christian College. I even have a second session at Victory College next week!

Great to see students starting to think about their future and asking solid questions. I can help them with the answers!

Also made it to the Gympie Special School Community Expo and had some fantastic conversations! Helping six students build their resumes and figure out what comes next.

Also excited to share that I will be having a meet and greet with Cooinda Aged Care. As a slow-burn vision, I am eager to see what opportunities we can uncover for our Gympie youth!
