🚒 Come along to Habana Rural Fire Brigade’s Community BBQ, Public Meeting and AGM!

Join us at the Habana Fire Station on Sunday 18 October. From 12 pm, meet the brigade, see the trucks, enjoy a BBQ and have a chat if you’re interested in joining.

Our Public Meeting starts at 2 pm, followed by the brigade AGM.

Everyone in the Habana community is welcome. We’d love to see you there!

💛 Today is Yellow Ribbon Day 💛

Today we recognise the more than 26,000 Rural Fire Brigade volunteers who give their time to protect communities across Queensland.

Here at Habana, we’re proud to wear the yellow coat, ride the yellow trucks and support our community when we’re needed.

To our volunteers - and the families, employers and community members who support them - thank you. 💛

A great turnout for training yesterday. The brigade did some familarisation of 4 wheel drive appliance training at Shoal Point followed by our new volunteers preparing for their basic firefighters assessments with shipping a standpipe , hydrant fill pump familiarisation and a truck hose down.
We returned to the station and completed appliance checks and some members remaining to assist with erecting our station sign after it was removed to complete the new concrete driveway completion.

If you are preparing your property for this bushfire season and require Habana Rural Fire Brigade to assist in burning then please call first officer Dave Stewart 0411078648.
All fires must have a fire permit above 2m x 2m x 2m
Check the fire warden details on the QFD website for the warden contact number in your area or contact your local fire brigade.
BE SAFE THIS SUMMER. It only takes a spark.
Report ALL FIRES 000.

With the Bushfire Level Preparedness increasing recently from a Level 1 to Level 2 across the Mackay region Habana Rural Fire Brigade spent this morning's training session doing appliance and station checks to ensure we are ready for what looks like a potentially busy fire season.
The brigade undertook maintenance checks and some hose hydrant training for some of our new firefighter recruits shipping a hydrant we took advantage to give the trucks a good clean .
Remember if you are looking to burn small piles under 2metres in the Habana area, make sure you take the necessary precautions, clear area , have water on hand and please call David on 0411078648 before lighting up to avoid unnecessary callouts by locals reporting to 000 smoke issueing.

If you have any fire above 2m x 2m please contact us for a mandatory fire permit.

If you would like to become a volunteer firefighter Male or Female from 18 years old to anyone retired any age then please call David on 0411078648 , We invite you to join our active and welcoming brigade .

Before you light up, make sure you’re prepared.

✔️ A permit is required for piles larger than 2 m × 2 m
✔️ The landholder must remain present
✔️ Have adequate firebreaks and water available, as required by your permit

A safe burn protects your property, your neighbours and our community.
