๐Today is International Womenโs Day โ a chance to recognise the contributions of women in our communities.
๐ฉ๐ผโ๐๐ฉ๐ผโ๐At Habana Rural Fire Brigade, weโre proud to have women involved both on the truck and in support roles. This yearโs theme, โBalance the Scales,โ highlights the importance of equity, inclusion and access.
In our brigade that includes Max Godley, a Senior Firefighter and passionate Habana local, and Rachel Rae, a Volunteer firefighter and community educator helping share bushfire preparedness information locally. Both also serve on the brigade committee, helping support the brigade beyond the truck.
While progress has been made, we know there is still more work to do to ensure volunteering in fire and emergency services reflects the diversity of our communities.
Volunteering relies on the support of partners, families and our wider community who make it possible for members to step away when needed.
๐ If youโve ever thought about getting involved, we welcome community members of all backgrounds to join the brigade โ whether on the truck or in support roles.
