On this ANZAC Day, we pause to remember and honour the courage, sacrifice and service of all who have served, and those who continue to serve our country.

7 Habana and 2 Mt Blackwood members represented RFSQ alongside Area Office at the Mackay march and service this morning.

๐ŸŒพ Two great days at the Ag Trade Expo, connecting with our local community and sharing what we do.

๐Ÿ”ฅ Our focus was on fire permits and volunteer recruitment, helping landholders better understand their responsibilities and how we can support them. We also loved welcoming families โ€“ giving kids a look through the trucks and talking through simple home fire escape plans.

๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป A big thank you to members from Habana, Mt Blackwood, and Eton Brigades for their time and effort across the event.

We also appreciated the visit from Andrew Willcox MP, who stopped by to chat about the important role volunteers play in keeping our communities safe.

๐Ÿš’ If youโ€™ve ever thought about getting involved, nowโ€™s a great time to reach out and learn more about volunteering with your local brigade.

Have you ever seen the Easter Bunny in a fire truck?๐Ÿฐ๐Ÿš’

We did last night at the free Easter family event at Bunnings North!

Our crew loved getting out into the community, supporting a great local event and giving the kids a close-up look at our rural appliances. Plenty of smiles all round (and a few future firefighters in the making!).

Thanks to everyone who came down and said hello ๐Ÿ‘‹ and the free popcorn was a hit too๐Ÿฟ

๐Ÿšจ In an emergency, always call Triple Zero (000) ๐Ÿšจ

When a fire or life-threatening emergency happens, every second counts. The fastest way to get help is by calling Triple Zero immediately โ€“ not by contacting your local brigade or station directly.

Your call will go directly to a trained professional who can quickly dispatch the nearest available crews.

For non-life-threatening emergency assistance during severe weather events, such as help with a damaged roof or storm damage, call SES on 132 500.

๐Ÿ’œToday is International Womenโ€™s Day โ€“ a chance to recognise the contributions of women in our communities.

๐Ÿ‘ฉ๐Ÿผโ€๐Ÿš’๐Ÿ‘ฉ๐Ÿผโ€๐Ÿš’At Habana Rural Fire Brigade, weโ€™re proud to have women involved both on the truck and in support roles. This yearโ€™s theme, โ€œBalance the Scales,โ€ highlights the importance of equity, inclusion and access.

In our brigade that includes Max Godley, a Senior Firefighter and passionate Habana local, and Rachel Rae, a Volunteer firefighter and community educator helping share bushfire preparedness information locally. Both also serve on the brigade committee, helping support the brigade beyond the truck.

While progress has been made, we know there is still more work to do to ensure volunteering in fire and emergency services reflects the diversity of our communities.

Volunteering relies on the support of partners, families and our wider community who make it possible for members to step away when needed.

๐Ÿš’ If youโ€™ve ever thought about getting involved, we welcome community members of all backgrounds to join the brigade โ€“ whether on the truck or in support roles.
