Vision accessibility

How many people can't read black text on red background? I'm looking at you Royal Darwin Hospital NT Health who post warnings that are black text on red blocks!

There is no exact global headcount, but virtually everyone finds it difficult or illegible because it fails basic visual contrast standards, and it is completely invisible for people with specific forms of red-blindness (protanopia).

Black text on a pure red background yields a very low luminance contrast ratio that falls below the WCAG minimum standard of 4.5:1 for normal text.

For individuals with protanopia (complete absence of red cone cells), red light registers as very dark gray or black. This causes the black letters to completely blend into the dark background and vanish.

About 8% of men and 0.5% of women globally have some form of red-green color blindness, which is roughly 300 million people worldwide.

Millions more people with age-related low vision, cataracts, or severe astigmatism find low-contrast chromatic pairings painful or impossible to decipher.

Even people with standard 20/20 vision experience high visual fatigue and slow reading speeds when attempting to parse dark text over saturated chromatic backgrounds.

Organisations need to prioritise accessibility.

Yet another parcel lost at Australia Post . Tracking stopped at Winnellie.

It is unbelievable how parcels can travel internationally and nationally all the way to Winnellie then simply vanish.

It was so sad to see a young person waiting at Stuart Park bus stop #103 yesterday standing in a 200mm shadow cast by the sign. No shelter and no seat is complete ignorance of Bill Yan MLA - Member for Namatjira and NT Logistics and Infrastructure of the needs of all patrons of public transport, why no shelter, why do residents have to petition for common-sense?

This stop meets and exceeds the documented requirements for seating and shelter.

This must be addressed with priority. Stuart Park businesses, consumers and residents deserve respect and action

It is simply bizarre that we have to fight for a seat and shelter in a high traffic area of Stuart Park.

Northern Territory Government do you support accessibiliy for Territorians? Do you support Stuart Park businesses and growth?

I would recommend that all suppliers and sales platforms abandon Australia Post for parcel deliveries if you seek customer satisfaction and increased sales. Delivery is a key component of your business.

Australia Post services continue to get worse for both letters and parcels while increasing cost with excessive timeframes nationally.

A pretty accurate representation of the CLP not listening to constituents (voters).

But is NT Labor listening and being vocal?

Congratulations to Tanzil Rahman on apparently single-handedly dragging VAD laws through Parliament!
