May is Domestic and Family Violence Prevention Month and throughout the month, we’ll be spotlighting important quotes from some wonderful women we interviewed in our video series who dedicate their hard work to support people experiencing DFV and creating a safer community for all. Starting off with Sandi from who reminds us about the importance of having conversations about domestic violence and healthy relationships amongst the wider community.

We are incredibly grateful Gold Coast Community Legal Centre for taking part in our project and generously shared their knowledge and insights. Thank you 😊 🩷🙏

We were honoured to be invited by Power Nadeshiko to share insights into the work we do at the Gold Coast Community Legal Centre, as part of their focus on “Abuse to Other Family Members.”

During the interview, our team discussed the legal dimensions of elder abuse and domestic and family violence. These forms of harm can have profound impacts, and it’s vital they are recognised as part of the broader picture of abuse.

We also highlighted the services we provide and how individuals experiencing domestic and family violence can access support through our centre.

A big thank you to Power Nadeshiko for creating space for these important conversations and helping raise awareness in our community.

We’re excited to share that we had our very first shoot yesterday, where we had the privilege of interviewing two incredible women, Millie and Susie, Multicultural Health Coordinators at .health

In our interview, we discussed important topics including the connection between mental health and gender-based violence, supporting children experiencing trauma, postnatal depression, and the services available for those in need.

We were truly inspired by their meaningful work and the insights they shared on helping culturally and linguistically diverse communities access culturally appropriate care.

We can’t wait to share their interview with you soon 😊stay tuned!🔜
