Good Morning Benowa SS families.
We understand many families were disappointed that our Motherās Day event had to be cancelled twice due to the ongoing wet weather and because of very low order numbers. We know how special these events are for our students and their mothers, grandmothers, carers, and loved ones. We can assure you, the P&C who are mothers of children at our school, share that disappointment too.
To clarify, the first planned event was intentionally not marketed due to the forecast wet weather and uncertainty around whether it could proceed. Unfortunately, despite rescheduling, the second event also faced challenges with weather and then very low order numbers, which can also be partly attributed to the lack of marketing by the P&C.
Our P&C tries hard to organise these events for our school community. Two years ago, we made the decision to change the normal Mothers day stall to a community breakfast event so mothers, grandmothers, carers, and loved ones could come together with children and be celebrated. We want to assure you that every effort was made to make this event possible. We welcome all feedback and suggestions for improvement to our events and want to assure you all we have taken on the feedback given around cancellations of events due to weather over the past year.
We are working closely with the school to explore better wet weather options for future events so we can avoid this situation occurring again in the future, such as holding the event in the Hall. Our next P&C meeting is tonight in the staff room of the administration building at the school at 5.30pm.
We will be discussing this matter and welcome your attendance or feedback to share at this event. If you would like to share something, but are unable to attend, you can email this through to the President of the P&C: [email protected]
Once again, we are incredibly grateful to the businesses and community members who generously donated giftware for our Motherās Day hampers. Rather than let these beautiful gifts go to waste, raffle ticket sales have now reopened as of today and will remain available until Friday morning.
There are 20 hampers to be won:
š 4 large hampers
š 16 smaller hampers
Winners will be drawn Friday morning and contacted via email or phone.
If you have purchased a mothers day breakfast pack and havent been contacted yet, please contact the P&C to organise a refund or to apply your credit towards raffle tickets.
Thank you to everyone who continues to support our P&C and our school community with kindness and understanding.
