🌿 What a fantastic club meeting on Saturday!

The day began with a fascinating and highly informative talk from Brian at Neutrog, who shared a wealth of knowledge on fertilising, plant health, and getting the very best from our bonsai. There was plenty to learn, with members leaving inspired and armed with new ideas for their trees.

The rest of the day was dedicated to a full hands-on tree workshop, with members working right through the day on their bonsai. A special thank you to our extra tutors who generously gave their time and came specifically to support members during the workshop—your knowledge and guidance are greatly appreciated.

Congratulations to Kae for taking out our display competition with her stunning Virginia Creeper, glowing in spectacular autumn colour 🍂 A sight not often seen here in our subtropical Gold Coast, making it an especially memorable display.

Another great day of learning, sharing, and bonsai together. 🌱

A great meeting was had on Saturday at the club.

We had a great turnout for our tree workshop with many working on their Buxus that was a special club workshop last year. Getting advice on taking the steps in the journey from nursery pot to bonsai!

The beautiful raffle was run over both Feb and March and was won by a delighted Rochelle.

We had another impressive display of trees including a couple from one of our youngest club members. Although his Swamp Cypress didn’t win he received a good number of votes.

The winning tree was a Clerodendrum by Carole Waller but a very close second was Geoff with is beautiful Leptospermum.

The AGM went ahead despite our Secretary and Treasurer away sick. Wayne the Treasurer joined via telephone helping Robyn get through the process of having our new constitution passed.

We are so proud to have a complete committee and new fresh faces joining us this year.

All in all a great day was had by all.

Bonsai Enthusiasts…SAVE THE DATE
Join us for a weekend of breathtaking bonsai! Explore a stunning collection of meticulously crafted bonsai trees on display and enjoy live bonsai demonstrations at 10:00am and 2pm daily, where experts will share their knowledge and technique.

Browse the extensive sales area, where you can purchase bonsai trees, pre bonsai green stock, tools, pots, wire, books, and all the accessories you need to support your bonsai journey.

“Make a Bonsai” workshops daily at 11.30 and 3pm are just $20 per participant per session, including tree, soil and pot. You walk away with a new beginner bonsai, and to help with future care, your participation includes a 12 months membership of Bimer Bonsai Club which needs to be redeemed by attending a club meeting during June or July. Please note: “Make a Bonsai” workshop tickets can only be purchased from the reception area at the Bonsai Show and are limited to 20 participants per workshop. Arrive early before each session to secure your ticket and avoid missing out.

The show takes place at the Mount Coot-tha Botanic Gardens, AUDITORIUM BUILDING (next to the Brisbane Planetarium), with free parking available at the gardens and overflow parking across the road. Doors are open from 9am to 4pm daily on Saturday 9th and Sunday 10th May 2026, and entry is just $3 per person, with children under 15 free (tickets at the door).

We’ve got a big (and fun!) day planned for March!

🌱 Morning Tree Workshop – Bring your trees along and get stuck in. Styling, refining, problem-solving — plus plenty of friendly advice to help move your bonsai forward.

🌳 Buxus Follow-Up – Worked on a Buxus in last year’s group workshop? Bring it back and let’s keep the momentum going with a relaxed session focused on next steps and fresh ideas.

As the year comes to a close, we would like to thank all our members, supporters and friends for being part of another wonderful year at the club. Your enthusiasm, generosity, and shared love of bonsai continue to make our club such a welcoming and inspiring community.

What a day we had on Saturday — full of surprises, laughter, and festive fun! 🎄

A big thank you to everyone for your patience and good humour while we navigated an unexpected double booking at the Community Centre. Sharing the space wasn’t ideal, but as always, our members took it in stride 👏

Once the Christmas party kicked off, the day really came alive! The shared lunch was absolutely fantastic — thank you to everyone who brought a plate, the spread was incredible.🍖
Secret Santa brought plenty of joy, and Robyn’s trivia had brains buzzing and smiles all round.🎁

Our Christmas Bonsai Tree Decorating Competition brought out some wonderfully creative (and festive!) talent. There were some fantastic entries, and in the end Jeff won the prize with his absolutely gorgeous tree.🎄

The Christmas hamper raffle was a huge success in raising funds for the club, and congratulations to Ria, who was thrilled to take home a very impressive (and very full!) hamper.

We finished the day with our Blind Bonsai Styling competition — creative and extremely entertaining!

🎄 **Don’t Miss Our December Meeting – Christmas Party!** 🎄

Join us for our final club gathering of the year, filled with festive fun and bonsai cheer!

We’ve got a fantastic day lined up for our November meeting!

🪴 Morning Workshop:
Bring along your trees and get hands-on in our Tree Workshop! Our senior tutors will be available throughout the morning to offer guidance, answer questions, and help you refine your bonsai. Whether you’re shaping, wiring, or planning a repot — it’s a great chance to learn and improve your skills.

🎨 Afternoon Demonstration:
Get ready for a special Four-Person Pot Making Demonstration featuring Robyn, Carole, Frank, and Jeff! Each will showcase their unique techniques for creating organic-style pots and rocks using materials like tile glue, mesh, and foam. You’ll see a mix of creativity, technique, and inspiration — perfect for anyone wanting to add a personal touch to their bonsai displays.
