The best-kept secret about parkrun is that it’s not about running - it’s about bringing people together in public parks and open spaces to have some fun in a friendly, social and supportive environment. You can walk or run the 5k course (pushing a pram or with one dog on a short lead if you want to!), lend a helping hand as a volunteer in a wide range of super-easy roles, or simply spectate and socialise on the sidelines. There are no winners at parkrun and nobody comes last. Regular participation is rewarded rather than performance, with free ‘parkrun milestone shirts’ awarded to people to recognise their achievements in coming along. parkrun is whatever you want it to be, whenever you want to take part. The sun was out, and so were the parkrunners.

220 of you joined us this morning, including 10 people completing their very first parkrun, and 47 visiting Varsity Lakes for the first time. Welcome to the family.

A massive thank you to our 19 amazing volunteers who made it all happen and kept everything running smoothly.

Thank you for choosing Varsity Lakes parkrun to kick off your weekend with a 5k, friendly faces, and great community spirit.

See you next Saturday, same time, same place.

The rain couldn't dampen our spirits at Varsity Lakes parkrun yesterday. Well done to the 128 dedicated finishers and a huge thank you to our amazing volunteers who stayed cheerful and encouraging through the wet conditions.

A massive congratulations to our milestone achievers: Danny (25), Megan (50), and Jacinta (250).

Shoutout to the 7 participants who braved the conditions to reach a new PB, incredible effort by all.

You have one week to dry out before we do it all over again next Saturday. See you at the start line. 🙂
