What does a Gallipoli Scholarship look like in real life?

For Chelsea Rosewarne, it looks like a Bachelor of Physiotherapy at ACU, an Army Reserves officer appointment, a Life Saving Victoria Gold Medallion, and a King Scout Award. All of this, while also honouring the service of her great-grandfather, Edwin William Rosewarne, who served in the RAAF in WW2.

Chelsea was one of three scholars supported by our Veterans Benevolent Fund Ltd at this year's Gallipoli Scholarship Awards which was a night celebrating 30 years of backing the descendants of Australian and New Zealand veterans through education.

67 scholarships were awarded this year, which was a new record. Three of those were supported directly by the Veterans Benevolent Fund.

None of it happens without clubs. So, if yours is in a position to contribute to the VBF, we'd love to hear from you. Based on your membership, we can suggest an annual contribution that works for your club.

We are pleased to announce that Brad Smith has stepped into the role of Acting Chief Executive Officer while Margot Smith has commenced maternity leave, returning in mid-February 2027.

Over his time with the Association, Brad has demonstrated a strong commitment to our member clubs, the club industry and the communities we serve, including through his leadership of initiatives such as the Kokoda Youth Leadership Challenge and a range of member engagement programs.

Brad looks forward to working closely with the Board, member clubs and corporate partners to continue strengthening and advocating for our industry during this important period.

On behalf of the entire Association, we extend our congratulations and best wishes to Margot and her growing family as they begin this wonderful new chapter.

The Veterans Benevolent Fund has raised over $2.1 million to connect clubs with veterans services organisations across NSW, and the momentum continues.

With a growing number of supporters, we aim to raise $350,000 per year, allowing us to reach over $1million on a triennial basis and provide funding certainty for the programs we support. We're now in Year 1 of a new three-year pledge.

Patsy Edwards OAM has been recognised with the 2026 ANZAC of the Year Award, honouring her extraordinary commitment to veterans, service personnel and the broader community over more than 50 years of military and voluntary service.

A Director of the RSL & Services Clubs Association and long-serving Honorary Secretary of the Gosford RSL sub-Branch for 24 years, Patsy has dedicated her life to supporting veterans and preserving the spirit of service and remembrance. Her ongoing commitment also includes service on the Standby Army Reserve List and leadership in veteran welfare and commemorative activities across the Central Coast.

That's a wrap on the 2026 Gaming & Leadership Conference! Day 2 in Penrith delivered everything we hoped for and more.

We heard from Trent Sutton on cutting through the AI noise with real, practical marketing strategies clubs can use today. The Regulators Panel gave delegates a rare, direct line to the people shaping our industry's future. Matthew Hassan from Westpac delivered a sharp economic outlook and the context every Club leader needs heading into the next 12 to 24 months.

And closing out the conference in the most powerful way possible, Dan Fortune. Twice awarded the Distinguished Service Cross, he left us with one challenge: show up every day as a better version of yourself. Be better than your best.

A heartfelt thank you to every speaker, panellist and delegate who made these two days so worthwhile. Especially to our incredible partners who made it all possible IGT, Asahi Beverages, Lion, Treasury Wine Estates, De Bortoli Wines, Coca-Cola Europacific Partners, Campari Group, Hennessy Coffee, Warren Saunders Insurance Brokers and Paynter Dixon.

See you all back in 2027. ๐Ÿ‘ Leagues Clubs Australia

The 2026 Gaming & Leadership Conference jointly presented with Leagues Clubs Australia hit the ground running in Penrith yesterday with MC James Bracey steering a standout lineup of speakers and panels.

Just a fraction of the highlights included a keynote from Simon Kuestenmacher on demographic trends shaping the future of clubs, a frank political landscape briefing from SECNewgate with NSW State Elections on the horizon, plus deep dives into gaming tech, beverage trends, workplace wellbeing and AML/CTF compliance.

The conversations didn't stop when the sessions did. Last nightโ€™s Cocktail Reception brought our Clubs together for exactly the kind of connection that makes this conference special.

None of it happens without our amazing partners. Thank you to IGT, Asahi Beverages, Lion, Treasury Wine Estates, DeBortoli Wines, CocaColaEP, Campari Group, Hennessy Coffee, Warren Saunders Insurance and Paynter Dixon.

Back at it today for Day 2.

Last week's tour to Canberra brought together club supporters of The Last Post Livestream partnership with The Australian War Memorial.

The Tour opened at the Australian War Memorial, where guests explored the newly redeveloped Anzac Hall and Atrium, which will host our cocktail reception at the 25th Annual Conference later this year.

The Last Post Ceremony, honouring Norman Ivor Heard, was a standout moment. Held daily at the Memorial, it commemorates an individual who served our country, recognising the service and sacrifice of all Australians. Through the support of our members, our partnership helps ensure these stories continue to be shared.

Day two offered members a rare behind-the-scenes look at the Treloar Storage Facility and the Memorial's extensive collection, getting up close and personal with the old rigs while swapping stories with AWMโ€™s guides.

Thank you to everyone who made this experience possible, and to our members who joined us.
