‼️BUSHFIRE MITIGATION‼️
Metropolitan VFRS will be assisting with Multiple bushfire mitigation activites from this evening through to Monday, Locations vary from the Swan Valley Region and up into the Perth Hills. With favourable weather conditions most brigades will be conducting burns during this time.

How can you help?
Please keep your eye on EmergencyWA for burns registered in your area.
When travelling through these areas, Slow down, Move over and drive with caution.

Are you thinking about conducting you own burn?
Please note most local governments have now entered into their restricted burning period, meaning you MUST have a permit to burn. If you have any questions regarding bushfire mitigation and hazard reduction burning please contact your local government or visit their website for information current to your area.

This morning with a whole heap of other brigades and bgu’s Metro VFRS completed the MSWA Step Up, 1100 steps/ 55 floors of the one of the tallest buildings in Perth city!

3 of our members completed the stair climb in BA ( and setting a fantastic pace) while the others were able to complete the stair climb in their highest level of PPC.

I cant explain how proud I am of these people, they have been putting themselves through gruesome training sessions at Jacobs Ladder, for the weeks and months before today to be ready and prepared!

A huge thank you also goes out to the DFES Wellness team Scott, Tori and Billy for their support(and snacks!) this morning as well.

We can’t wait to do it again next year!
🚒🚒 — feeling fantastic.

When the fire is out and the summer is over, our job is still far from done. As firefighters we are also responsible for other duties such as attending community events and schools to help spread the knowledge of fire, how it works and what to do in emergencies.

Recently we had the opportunity to attend Carey Baptist College where we spent the afternoon teaching year 5’s all about firefighting! We think they had as much fun as we did 😂
