What a beautiful day we had at our Carers Lunch 💛

Days like yesterday are such a lovely reminder of how important connection, community and making time for ourselves can be. We are so grateful to everyone who helped make the day so special.

A huge thank you to Tom Hogg for allowing us to use his beautiful garden and facilities for the day.

Thank you to Ruth, Shona & Jordie from the City of Kalamunda for always showing up, lending a hand and supporting us on the day, as well as generously donating to our raffle.

Thank you to Stephen Price MP for his generous donation to our raffle.

A very special thank you to Tanya from the Woodlupine Family Centre for everything she does to support Make It Special — and of course for making those absolutely delicious sandwiches! 🥪💛

We are also incredibly grateful to Carers WA and Lotterywest for sponsoring the day and helping make events like this possible for our carer community.

And to all of the amazing carers who made the time to come along, relax, connect, have a laugh and spend the day with us — thank you. You are the reason we do what we do, and it was so lovely to see everyone enjoying themselves.

And finally, we want to recognise two very special people — Mandy and Ange, the founders of Make It Special. 💛

None of what we have today would exist without the two of you taking that first step and creating a space where carers could come together, feel understood, feel supported and simply have somewhere they belong.

What you created has grown into so much more than a craft group. It has become a community, a safe space, a place for friendships, laughter, support and connection. So many beautiful days like this one have happened because of the heart, time and love you both poured into Make It Special from the very beginning.

We are so incredibly grateful for the space you created for all of us to enjoy, and for the difference it continues to make in the lives of so many carers.

Thank you, Mandy and Ange, for starting something truly special. 💛

🌿 Not long to go until our Make It Special Carers Week Garden Lunch! 🌿

A little reminder that our special Carers Week event is coming up on Wednesday 14 October, from 11am–2pm at Romancing the Stone Gardens, Maida Vale.

It’s set to be a lovely afternoon of connection, relaxation and a little time out just for carers, with a garden tour, craft activity, light lunch and raffle.

A simple question can make a big difference 💛

This R U OK? Day, we’re reminded how important it is to check in with the people around us — our friends, family, colleagues and community.

You don’t need to have all the answers. Sometimes simply asking “Are you OK?”, listening without judgement and staying connected can mean more than you realise.

At Make It Special, connection and community are at the heart of what we do, and today is a beautiful reminder to keep those conversations going. 💛
