Term 3 Week 8
Cubs:
Our Cubs celebrated Father’s Day by making something special for their dads and father figures. They created their very own Adventure Buckets, filled with goodies including lollies, head torches and their homemade BBQ spice rub.
To finish the night, the Cubs challenged their dads and father figures to a game of ice hockey. The dads did an amazing job and managed to take home the win once again, with not a single point scored by the Cubs!

Venturers:
Venturers decided to take a break this week with exams coming up. We wish everyone the best of luck with their exams.

Scouts:
Scouts joined up with Burleigh Scouts for an adventure around Jellgual. They enjoyed taking in the scenery, finishing the night with a sausage sizzle at Tallebudgera Creek.

Wednesday:
In the evening Waiburra attend the government house reception for Scouts Queensland.

Saturday Training:
On Saturday, one of our leaders and two Venturers completed their Safe Participant in Stand Up Paddle Boarding training, adding another valuable skill to their Scouting journey.

Happy Father’s Day to all our dads and father figures. We hope you have an amazing day and enjoy being celebrated.

Happy Father’s Day to all our Dads and Dad figures. Hope you have an amazing day.

Weekly Round Up – Term 3, Week 7

Another great week of learning new skills, teamwork and getting out and about!

Cubs:
The Cubs had a bike safety and maintenance night as they worked towards their Stage 1 Cycle. They learnt about the different parts of a bike, cleaned their bikes and pumped up their tyres before heading outside to put their skills to the test on an obstacle course.

Venturers:
The Venturers headed to ON BELAY CLIMBING for a night of rock climbing. They challenged themselves by climbing to the top of the walls and supporting each other along the way.

Scouts:
The Scouts had a campfire cooking night, working together in pairs to make damper. They mixed and kneaded the dough before wrapping it around a stick and cooking it over the fire. Once the damper was cooked and the bowls were cleaned, it was time for s’mores! The Scouts roasted marshmallows over the fire before smooshing them between two cookies for a tasty treat.

Friday:
On Friday, some of our leaders, Venturers, Cubs and Scouts headed to Currumbin RSL to sell raffle tickets and chat with the community about Scouting. It was a great opportunity to get out into the community and share what Scouting is all about.

Weekly Round Up – Term 3, Week 6

Another great week of learning, teamwork and new skills across our sections!

Cubs:
The Cubs enjoyed a campfire night where they learnt how to make damper from scratch. They got their hands dirty mixing and kneading the dough before finding a stick to cook their damper over the campfire. Once the damper was ready, they roasted marshmallows and enjoyed the campfire together. The Cubs also learnt how to safely put out a campfire when they were finished.

Venturers:
The Venturers got stuck into some pioneering skills, practising their knots and working together to build the Star of David.

Scouts:
The Scouts took part in a teamwork challenge, working together to build two square structures and guide-rope them securely to the ground before adding the ropes to create a web. Once the web was complete, the Scouts had to work together to lift each other through the spaces without touching the ropes. With only one person allowed through each space, communication, teamwork and problem-solving were essential!
The leaders also decided to build a spider web.

Friday:
Some of our Leaders, Cubs and Venturers headed to Currumbin RSL to sell raffle tickets and chat with the community about Scouts.

Weekly Round Up – Term 3, Week 5

Another busy week of adventure, teamwork and learning across our sections!

Cubs:
The Cubs enjoyed a night walk around Jellurgal, taking in the scenery and looking out for animals along the way. A big thank you to Jawalla for coming down and taking us for a walk, as well as sharing some interesting facts about Jellurgal with us. Jawalla also shared some natural honey and Indigenous artefacts with the Cubs.

Venturers:
The Venturers took part in a deaf, blind and mute challenge while making cupcakes. They had to work together and communicate in different ways to complete the activity.

Matthew was also presented his Milestone 1 badge, BRAVO.
Over the weekend, two Venturers travelled to Beenleigh Scout Den to participate in a Venturer Leadership Course, developing their leadership skills and learning new ways to support their fellow Venturers.

Scouts:
The Scouts went for a walk around the Palm Beach area while searching for Geocaches. It was a great opportunity to explore the area, work together and put their navigation skills to the test.

Community:
On Friday, some of our leaders and a Cub headed to Currumbin RSL to sell raffle tickets for our meat and seafood trays. It was a great opportunity to promote Scouting within our local community and let people know more about what scouts do.

Term 3 – Week 4:

Another busy and exciting week for our group!

Cubs:
Our Cubs became detectives this week! They created their own crime comics and then shared them with the group. The other Cubs had to put their detective skills to the test and work out who the criminal was. They then finished the night with a game of Wink Murder.

Venturers:
The Venturers got ready for Operation Nighthawk by packing the trailer and making sure everything was organised and ready to go.
Also did some trivia arrange by Will.

Scouts:
Our Scouts continued practising their first aid skills before packing up their gear onto the trailer in preparation for Nighthawk.

Wednesday:
Two of our Venturers and two leaders volunteered at Connect To Home, serving treats, tea, coffee, and Milo to people who are experiencing homeless or doing it tough. It was a great way to give back to our community.
Going towards their Creating a better World SIA.

On Friday night: Some of the leaders come to Currumbin RSL, to help sell tickets for meat trays and promote scouting.

Over the weekend:
Our Scouts transformed into the Drop Bears, while our Venturers with two Ormeau Scout Group ventures transformed into the River Rats, to take part in Operation Nighthawk at Clifton.

From what we heard, the Venturers even found themselves being chased by a lion?? Both teams had heaps of fun and came back with plenty of stories to tell.

A huge thank you to the Nighthawk team for running such a fantastic event and to our leaders for looking after everyone throughout the weekend.

Also, a big thank you to Jawalla for driving us up to Nighthawk and getting everyone there and back safely.
