Veterans' Support Centre The Veterans’ Support Centre provides professional advice and assistance to veterans, serving members

The Veterans’ Support Centre provides professional advice and assistance to veterans, serving members, ex-members of the Defence Forces and their dependants, seeking to obtain entitlements under the Veterans’ Entitlements Act 1986 as Amended (VEA) and from the Military Rehabilitation and Compensation Act (MRCA) and the Safety Rehabilitation Compensation Act (SRCA). We do this in accordance with th

e Mission, Role and Objectives of the National RSL. The considerable expenses associated with maintaining the office are kindly met by the Currumbin Palm Beach RSL Sub-branch. All our welfare staff are volunteers who have attended Department of Veterans’ Affairs training courses. The service covers disability pensions, compensation payments, associated allowances, income support payments and medical treatment which may be available to entitled veterans, members and ex-members of the Defence Forces and their dependants. Whilst the service can provide limited advice to Commonwealth and Allied veterans, those veterans will normally be referred to local branches of expatriate associations who would normally have more expertise in what benefits their home country provides for its veterans.

Guitar 4 Vets is underway! 🎸

Nine veterans have kicked off a 20-week guitar program, learning a new skill and connecting with each other along the way.

This program is funded by DVA, and a big thank you to Aaron from Noro Music for facilitating these sessions each week and sharing his time and skills with our veterans.

We can't wait to see how far this group comes by the end of the program!

NEW for 2026: Team Event Registration! 🏃‍♀️

This year, we're adding a Team element to the Mateship Run, because mateship is always better shared.

It's an OPEN mixed event where teams can be all male, all female, or a mix of both. However you want to line up, you're in.

Here's how it works: your fastest 4 runners in the 11.11km event have their times added together for your team's accumulated result. Bring your strongest crew and see how you stack up.

SALT TO SALT: A community artwork honouring our veterans 🌊

A team of Currumbin Palm Beach RSL Sub-Branch members, War Widows, Citizens' Auxiliary, non sub branch veterans and VSC staff have joined artist Shelly Kelly to create something truly special for this year's SWELL Sculpture Festival.

Led by veteran Curl, the group has been meeting regularly at the Veterans Support Centre, hand-crafting salt bricks that will form a boat inspired by the Spirit of the Anzacs surf lifesaving boats — the vessels that carry veterans' ashes out to sea each Anzac Day in the Ashes to Sea service.

Just as the ashes return to the sea, Shelly's bricks are designed to slowly dissolve back into nature, a quiet symbol of the cycle of life continuing; allowing us to contemplate presence and absence on a deeper level.

Brad Cox and the Elanora Woodworking Club are adding the finishing touch, hand-crafting rowing oars for the boat.

Come see the finished artwork and the story behind it at SWELL Sculpture Festival, Currumbin Beach, 11–20 September!

Another great day in the books! 🇦🇺✈️

Last weekend we were back at the Peppers Soul Building in Surfers Paradise for front row seats to the Pacific Airshow.
