MEET NURSE CLARA WHITMORE & DOROTHY “DOT” FINCH – PLAYED BY PATTY HITCHENOR & GWEN BAKER

Two women. Two very different stories. And two restless spirits with plenty to say about what really happened at Raven’s Hill.

NURSE CLARA WHITMORE – PLAYED BY PATTY HITCHENOR
Compassionate and quietly courageous, Nurse Clara Whitmore came to Raven’s Hill believing she could help its vulnerable patients. But as the asylum’s treatments became increasingly disturbing, Clara found herself trapped between duty, fear and what she knew was right.

Now, long after her death, Clara carries the guilt of not speaking out sooner. She remembers the patients’ others would rather forget — and she knows that buried within Raven’s Hill are secrets that must finally come to light.
As Kate Moriarty’s investigation deepens, Clara may hold some of the most important pieces of the mystery.

DOROTHY “DOT” FINCH – PLAYED BY GWEN BAKER
And then there’s Dot — sharp, outspoken, practical and completely unimpressed by just about everyone!

Committed to Raven’s Hill simply for being a “difficult” woman who refused to keep quiet, Dot has had plenty of time in the afterlife to perfect her sarcasm.

Whether she’s refusing to participate in JoJo’s latest theatrical extravaganza, delivering a perfectly timed put-down or watching the supernatural chaos unfold around her, Dot brings some wonderfully dry humour to the halls of Raven’s Hill.

Death may have claimed her — but it certainly hasn’t silenced her.
One carries the weight of what she witnessed. The other refuses to take any nonsense from anyone.

Together, Nurse Clara Whitmore and Dorothy “Dot” Finch bring heart, mystery and plenty of humour to Raven’s Requiem.

MEET EVELYN “EVIE” HOLLOWAY & MRS MEDINA – PLAYED BY GEORGIA LANG & GERTRUD KOVACS

Two very different women help drive Kate Moriarty’s investigation into the secrets of Raven’s Hill — one armed with dusty records and boundless enthusiasm, the other with deadlines, determination and very little patience!

📚 EVELYN “EVIE” HOLLOWAY – PLAYED BY GEORGIA LANG
Socially awkward, endlessly enthusiastic and completely at home amongst dusty files, Evie Holloway is a young historian from the Eldergrove Historical Society for whom old maps, cemetery records and council minutes are genuinely exciting!

When Evie joins Kate’s investigation, her knowledge of archives soon proves invaluable. Armed with folders, maps, pencils, gloves — and emergency biscuits — Evie helps follow the paper trail behind Raven’s Hill’s missing graves and ultimately plays a crucial role in uncovering the evidence everyone has been searching for.

With her quirky enthusiasm, wonderfully awkward humour and passion for history, Evie proves that sometimes the most important person in a ghost story is the one who knows where to look in the archives!

📰 MRS MEDINA – PLAYED BY GERTRUD KOVACS
Then there’s Kate’s formidable boss, Mrs Medina.

Stern, sharp and always looking for the next story that will sell newspapers, Medina wants facts, evidence and results — not ghost stories and rumours. With the possibility of promotion hanging over Kate’s head, she pushes her reporter to keep digging and makes one thing very clear: bring back proof… or lose the story.

While Kate chases ghosts, hidden graves, and long-buried secrets, Medina keeps the pressure firmly on from the newsroom!

Georgia Lang and Gertrud Kovacs bring two wonderfully contrasting characters to Raven’s Requiem — the enthusiastic historian who loves uncovering the past and the hard-nosed newspaper boss determined to uncover a story worth printing.

MEET JAMES BENTLEY & THOMAS “TOMMY” O’MALLEY – PLAYED BY NOAH SCHIPPLOCK & KAIDEN GRENNAN

Raven’s Hill is full of restless spirits, but few are quite as entertaining as James Bentley and Thomas “Tommy” O’Malley.

JAMES BENTLEY – PLAYED BY NOAH SCHIPPLOCK
James is a charming young builder, a loyal friend of John Raven, and determined to help uncover the mystery of the lost graves. When journalist Kate Moriarty arrives, an unexpected romance begins to grow — complicated by one rather important detail James hasn’t mentioned…
He’s dead.

Noah Schipplock, an up-and-coming musical theatre performer and vocalist based in Ipswich, takes on the role of James. Noah has built a growing presence in the regional Queensland arts community through competitive eisteddfods, vocal concerts and local musical productions, including his appearance in the Ipswich Orpheus Chorale’s recent production of Golden Days.

THOMAS “TOMMY” O’MALLEY – PLAYED BY KAIDEN GRENNAN
Cheeky, sarcastic and always ready for mischief, Tommy is a former Raven’s Hill patient with what the Matron calls an “incurable disrespect for locked doors.” After numerous escape attempts and one unfortunate encounter with the City Express Train, death hasn’t made him any less troublesome.

Kaiden Grennan brings more than 15 years of stage experience to the role, having first appeared in musical theatre as the title character in Oliver! in 2010. A proud member of the Ipswich Orpheus Chorale since 2016, his previous roles include Rusty Charlie in Guys and Dolls and Charlie in Golden Days.

Together, James and Tommy help make Raven’s Requiem a ghost story where the dead are anything but dull!

🕯️👻 MEET ROSALINE EDWARDS – THE MATRON, PLAYED BY SHAZ LEE

Every great mystery needs someone guarding the secrets… and at Raven’s Hill, that someone is Rosaline Edwards — the Matron.
Authoritative, formidable and utterly convinced that everything she did was for the good of her patients, Rosaline once ruled Raven’s Hill Asylum with an iron hand. Even in death, she refuses to surrender control.

To Rosaline, the asylum is still operating, her patients still require treatment, and anyone behaving strangely may simply need to be… admitted. But beneath her calm authority lies a much darker history. Experimental treatments, unexplained deaths and long-buried mistakes surround her time at Raven’s Hill, while John Raven holds her responsible for the fate of his beloved wife, Eliza. Their confrontation becomes one of the most powerful and emotional moments in Raven’s Requiem.

Shaz Lee, an experienced performer who has appeared extensively in Victoria’s non-professional theatre scene, takes on the formidable role of The Matron. Shaz recently performed Stella in Ipswich Orpheus Chorale’s last performance of Golden Days. Shaz began dancing at just three years of age and continues her vocal training today. With her wealth of theatrical experience, strong stage presence and sense of humour, she is perfectly placed to bring both the authority and complexity of Rosaline Edwards to life.

And make no mistake — The Matron is still very much in charge.

👻✨ MEET JOSEPHINE “JOJO” CARTER – PLAYED BY BRONTE KUBLER

Every haunted asylum needs a ghost with attitude… and Raven’s Hill has Josephine “JoJo” Carter!

High-energy, unpredictable and gloriously theatrical, JoJo was committed to Raven’s Hill Asylum after being accused of witchcraft. Decades later, she’s still there — very much trapped and absolutely determined to make the afterlife as entertaining as possible.

JoJo delights in frightening unsuspecting visitors, tormenting her fellow ghosts and surrounding herself with her own merry band of ghosts, ghouls, skeletons and undead companions. But beneath all that outrageous humour is the story of a young woman who desperately wanted her freedom — and paid the ultimate price trying to escape.

🌟 Taking on this wonderfully larger-than-life role is the talented Bronte Kubler, who has been treading the theatre boards since her early years and has honed her skills through dance and performance.

Audiences will remember Bronte from her most recent performance as Alice Horton in the sold-out season of The Vicar of Dibley, where she captured audiences with her bright stage presence, comic timing and infectious energy.

Now she swaps the parish hall for the haunted halls of Raven’s Hill — and JoJo certainly knows how to make an entrance! Funny, mischievous, outrageous and just a little bit unhinged, JoJo Carter is one character you won’t forget.

WHO IS JOHN RAVEN

Meet John Raven, the dignified, passionate and fiercely protective owner of Raven’s Hill House, whose love for his wife Eliza has endured beyond death. Haunted by his decision to place her in Raven’s Hill Asylum, John has spent years searching for the truth and her lost grave. Carrying grief and anger in equal measure, he confronts Matron Rosaline Edwards, driven by one heartbreaking hope: to uncover what happened and finally be reunited with the woman he never stopped loving.

Audiences will remember Paul Douglas from his memorable performance as David Horton in The Vicar of Dibley last year, when the Ipswich Orpheus Chorale played to sell-out audiences. Now Paul returns in a very different role as the mysterious and deeply emotional John Raven in our brand-new Theatre Restaurant production, Raven’s Requiem.

Raven’s Requiem blends mystery, comedy, romance and familiar music into a wonderfully entertaining Halloween Theatre Restaurant experience. Expect plenty of laughs, a few chills, some surprising twists — and a cast who haven’t learned to rest in peace!
