"The RBA’s official mandate as defined in the RBA Act is to ‘contribute to the stability of the currency [inflation], full employment, and the economic prosperity and welfare of the Australian people’” writes Dr Greg Jericho, Chief Economist at the Australia Institute.

Well, forget that pesky act of Parliament, the RBA has decided it is simply a guide."

"On Tuesday, [Michele Bullock] told journalists and Australians, immediately after raising interest rates, that “these interest rate rises are not going to do anything for inflation over the next six months”

"That might be the most extraordinary statement any central banker (let alone the Governor of the RBA), has said."

The RBA is an again punishing workers for an economic outcome they did not create and are not responsible for.

Working people have already been hit from every angle – higher fuel prices, rising grocery costs, and skyrocketing bills – driven by corporate profit gouging and global instability. Now interest rate hikes are making it even harder, putting pressure on mortgages, rent, and everyday living.

The RBA is now acting as a means of wealth redistribution, from the workers to the very wealthy. We see it for what it is – rob the workers to feed the greed of the rich.
While unions are working hard to lift workers heads above the cost of living, the RBA is doing its best to drown us in debt.

It's worth noting the RBA chief is paid more than $1.2 million, compared to the annual median wage of a working Australian which is $74k!

Our price gouging inquiry discovered 'rockets and feathers' pricing. Where prices rise like rockets, and fall like feathers.

Australians shouldn’t pay more just so supermarkets can boost profits.

Unions are calling on the government to bring forward its legislation on price gouging and tougher penalties for companies exploiting supply‑chain disruptions.

We can’t afford to repeat COVID, when big business cashed in, and families paid the price.

Time for change. We must bring about a tax system that addresses rising inequality.

Wage rises are what helps workers get ahead of cost-of-living pressures.

Research shows raising minimum and award wages of Australia's lowest-paid workers has zero impact on inflation, don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

That's why union members are calling for at least a 4% above-inflation wage rise this year 👏

Anything less would be a stick up by the business lobby against working people.

Anthony Albanese is plotting a new assault on Peter Dutton’s Medicare credentials accusing him of previously backing ‘American-style’ reforms including $7 fees for emergency department visits and pathology tests.
