Gratitude all around for the support and understanding connected to this project. St Vincent’s is a not for profit organisation and relies on charitable donations just as the Sisters of Charity did over a century ago in Toowoomba. 🫶

💙❓Do you know what a cuddle bed is?
🙏🏼 It’s a beautiful concept; a wider bed that lets loved ones be right there, side by side, sharing comfort and closeness when it matters most.

Recently, St Vincent's Foundation, St Vincent's Private Hospital and St Vincent's Care (formerly Lourdes Home) marked the opening and blessing of a new Palliative Care Family Suite.

This welcoming space has been carefully created with families in mind, featuring a cuddle bed gifted by the Belinda McGowan Foundation, along with a private area and kitchenette to help make time together that little bit easier.
Because in life’s most difficult moments, it’s those simple things; a hand to hold, a hug, just being beside someone you love that means everything.

🙌🏽 💜 Thank you to everyone who made this possible.

A beautiful example of community giving for ICU patients and families in need at St Vincent's Private Hospital Toowoomba.

We are grateful to have received a donation of tote bags from Beautiful Crazy, a charity dedicated to supporting families with loved ones receiving care in an Intensive Care Unit. 💜💙

Each bag is prepared with essential comfort items, from a warm blanket and toiletries to tissues and snacks.

Thank you to Doug and Beck Cameron from Highlands Church Middle Ridge for delivering these bags on behalf of Beautiful Crazy. Our ICU team knows just how much these will mean to the families in our care, providing comfort when it’s needed most.

🎓 Celebrating the impact of the Elizabeth Fraser Scholarship

We are proud to share an inspiring update from Janedina Dube, one of our 2024 Elizabeth Fraser Scholarship recipients, who has successfully completed her Graduate Certificate in December 2025.

Through the support of the Scholarship, Janedina undertook advanced studies in wound management and is now applying her expertise across both Arundel and Southport facilities.

Her expanded knowledge is already making a meaningful difference. By educating nurses and carers on skin integrity and prevention strategies, she is helping to improve patient outcomes and strengthen best practice care for our residents.

Skin integrity challenges are common within the elderly population and can be complex to manage. This additional training has not only strengthened clinical capability but also increased confidence, ensuring residents receive informed, evidence based care.

Janedina has also shared her commitment to ongoing learning, continuing to build her skills through further wound education and training. Her dedication reflects exactly what the Elizabeth Fraser Scholarship was designed to support, professional growth that directly enhances the care and wellbeing of residents.

Congratulations, Janedina, on this outstanding achievement, and thank you to everyone who supported her journey. We look forward to seeing the continued impact of your important work.

If you would like to support initiatives like the Elizabeth Fraser Scholarship and help continue improving care for our residents, we invite you to connect with us or visit our website at svfq.org.au to donate or learn more about how you can make a difference.

As we welcome 2026, we sincerely thank our St Vincent’s Foundation Queensland community for their support throughout 2025. Your generosity made a real difference for patients, residents, families, and care teams across our hospitals and aged care services.

Last year, your support:
Awarded 28 staff education scholarships, building skills and leadership to enhance care.

Funded vital equipment and technology, including cuddle beds, dementia tables, and clinical essentials.

Supported community fundraising initiatives, from Bunnings Sausage Sizzles to Pink Bowls Day, raising almost $6,000 for women’s cancer care.

Opened doors for two Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Trainees in Health, thanks to corporate partner Bidfood.

Looking ahead to 2026, there are simple ways to continue making an impact: recycling, joining a fun run, hosting a community event, or supporting your school or workplace fundraiser. Every action, big or small, helps strengthen care for those who need it most.

From all of us at St Vincent’s Foundation Queensland, thank you for your generosity, compassion, and belief in our mission. Together, we can continue making a lasting difference.

Meet Alex Walters, clinical nurse in the cardiac cath lab at St Vincent's Private Hospital Toowoomba , and one of the 2025 Elizabeth Fraser Scholarship recipients.

Elizabeth Fraser deeply valued the exceptional care she received from St Vincent's Private Hospital Brisbane staff. To ensure that same standard of care continues, she made the visionary decision to give back through a gift in her Will.

In her honour, the Elizabeth Fraser Scholarships support staff professional development, funding education and training that directly enhances the patient and resident experience across our hospitals and care services.

This year, 23 staff from St Vincent’s Queensland hospitals and Care Services have been awarded scholarships. From nurses and allied health professionals to food services and administration, each recipient is strengthening our teams and enhancing the care we deliver every day.

Elizabeth Fraser’s gift is more than a legacy. It is an investment in the future of healthcare, ensuring her generosity continues to touch lives for generations to come.

Congratulations to all 2025 scholarship recipients!
