Apple-Maq Lions Club

Apple-Maq Lions Club Apple Computer Club and Lions Club. Collects and distributes health and education equipment overseas, disaster relief, wooden toys, and PET wheelchair

History of Our Club

The Club consists of two parts. A Computer club which started in 1984, and a Lions Club which started in 2003. Since then the Club has developed into an innovative organisation that is capable of offering health and education equipment. The project originated as a computer recycling project for Disabled and Disadvantaged back 1992 and was called CADD. It then moved on to overs

eas assistance of computers and school equipment in our region. At this point it was decided to form into a Lions Club and 20 members got together and the Apple-MAQ Lions Club was formed. LARC is to provide Quality education and health supplies to those in need. The club aids communities within Australia and the Indo-Pacific region. The equipment is donated from many different schools and hospitals throughout Queensland and New South Wales for us to refurbish and distribute to those in need. Every year we average 10-15 containers full of supplies to be dispatched to surrounding communities. We work with many different organisations to distribute the equipment overseas so it gets to the right area.

..Honouring Helen Keller – June 27 ..

Today we celebrate the birthday of Helen Keller — author, advocate, and the incredible woman who challenged the Lions to become “Knights of the Blind” in 1925.

Her bold call to action inspired Lions Clubs worldwide to take up the fight against preventable blindness — a mission we still proudly support through vision screenings, guide dog programs, and access to eye care for those in need.

Nearly 100 years on, Helen Keller’s words still echo through every Lions project that helps someone see the world more clearly. 💛

A great community initiative that you can help with!

Lions Clubs of District 201Q1 (South Queensland & Northern New South Wales) have kickstarted a “Fridge for a Friend” with a $15,000 donation from the support of Q1 Lions clubs to purchase white goods! - Helping Thargomindah after the Floods! is supported by the Lions Club of St George and St George Betta Electrical.

Western Queensland, including Thargomindah, has been devastated by recent floods. Many residents have lost essential household items, including fridges & washing machines.

Initiated by the Lions Club of St George in support of the community in Thargomindah.

“Fridge for a Friend”
Aims to replace fridges & washing machines for flood-affected residents.

Why It Matters: A fridge isn’t just a convenience – it’s vital for food safety, medication storage, and everyday wellbeing, especially in isolated, high-temperature communities.

Replacing these will have an immediate, tangible impact on families trying to rebuild.

How Can You Help: Direct Financial Contributions from Lions clubs in District 201Q1: Private donations from the general public: support for other Lions Clubs and members across Australia.

Sponsor a fridge or washing machine today! (Donate $500–$1000 or more)

Let’s Show the locals our support & our pride: A chance to live our Lions motto – We Serve, by showing True Mateship and The Aussie Community Spirit 🦁

Every fridge donated is a symbol of hope and support from one community to another 💛
