KIDA would like to sincerely thank Optiven Limited for making their second visit to Darwin from 21st–25th August and for taking the time to engage directly with our Kenyan community.

This visit has been very important because it has given Kenyans in Darwin an opportunity to learn, ask questions and make informed decisions about investing in land back home in Kenya. Creating a trusted platform where our community can explore land investment opportunities, understand the process and engage directly with a reputable company is invaluable to our diaspora.

A special thank you to everyone who volunteered their time and helped host the Optiven BBQ and engagement sessions. Your support and hospitality made the visit a success.

Earlier today, a meeting was held at Melaleuca Australia in Darwin, bringing together the Kenyan High Commission, Melaleuca Australia, federal leadership, and key community stakeholders to strengthen collaboration across migration, settlement, employment, and community engagement.

The meeting was attended by H.E. Dr. Wilson Hon Wilson Kipngetich Arap Kogo, PhD, Kenyan High Commissioner to Australia; Hon. Luke Gosling MP , Federal Member for Solomon; Kwame Selormey, CEO of Melaleuca Australia; and leadership from the Kenyans in Darwin Association (KIDA) and the KCB Diaspora Team.

Discussions centred on:

1. Strengthening collaboration between Melaleuca Australia and KIDA to enhance settlement services, professional networking, and local community initiatives.

2. Advancing opportunities for Kenyan professionals and students. Hon. Luke Gosling MP reaffirmed his strong support, noting that Kenya is a standout partner in meeting the Northern Territory’s workforce needs.

3. Highlighting Kenya’s global leadership in refugee support. H.E. Dr Kogo emphasised Kenya’s extensive experience hosting refugees and suggested that the specialised expertise of Kenyan professionals in the humanitarian and resettlement sectors could significantly bolster Australia’s own programs.

Additionally, Melaleuca Australia agreed to provide space and logistical support to host future Kenyan High Commission outreach activities in Darwin, thereby making essential consular services more accessible to the community.

Today, the High Commissioner of Kenya to Australia, H.E. Hon. Wilson Kipngetich Hon Wilson Kipngetich Arap Kogo, PhD, alongside Kenyans in Darwin Association (KIDA) President Paul Wachira , held a productive strategic meeting with Ms. Alana, Director of Alana Kaye College, at the Darwin Campus.

The discussions focused on two critical pillars:

1. Expanded Study Pathways: Enhancing academic and vocational training opportunities that align with industry needs.

2.Robust On-Arrival Support: Building stronger transition networks to ensure Kenyan students feel welcomed, secure, and fully equipped to thrive from day one in Australia.
