☘️ Reminder – An Cupán Tae is tomorrow! ☕

Just a gentle reminder that An Cupán Tae is on tomorrow, and there’s a seat waiting for you.

Whether you’re a familiar face or thinking of coming along for the first time, you’ll be warmly welcomed. No need to know anyone beforehand — just come as you are, grab a cuppa, and settle into a relaxed morning of conversation and connection.

It’s a simple kind of gathering where the kettle’s always on, the chats flow easily, and there’s no rush to be anywhere else. A chance to feel part of something familiar, even if it’s your very first time walking through the door ☕☘️

Bring a plate if you’re able, and bring yourself ready for a good chat, a few laughs, and plenty of Irish warmth along the way.

We’d love to see you there ☘️

☘️ Put the kettle on NT! ☘️

The Irish have a habit of turning up in every corner of the Territory, from Darwin to Daly Waters and just about everywhere in between. This Saturday morning, wherever you happen to be, we'd love you to join us for a cuppa and a chat.

Tune in to ABC Radio Darwin at 10:30am this Saturday as Amelia Searson broadcasts live from our An Cupán Tae gathering. So get the kettle on before then, settle into your favourite chair with a mug in hand, and enjoy a slice of Irish community from wherever you are across the NT.

We'd also love to hear your story. If you've made the Territory home, consider calling in to share your experiences of settling in the NT and becoming part of this remarkable place we all call home.

And if you're in Darwin, why not come along in person? An Cupán Tae runs from 9am to 1pm, with tea, coffee and plenty of conversation flowing throughout the morning. Bring a plate to share if you'd like, or make a small donation at the door on the day, and don't forget to RSVP:

Whether you're newly arrived, have been here for decades, are Irish by birth, heritage, friendship or simply curiosity, there's always room for one more at the table.

The "Irish-Territorian" Checklist 🐊☘️

You know you’ve officially traded the Emerald Isle for the Top End when your daily habits start looking a little... different. 😅

The "I’ve been in Darwin too long" Checklist:

1️⃣ You consider 25°C "chilly" and reach for a jumper.

2️⃣ You check your work boots for frogs as carefully as you check for spiders. 🐸

3️⃣ You still talk about "soft Irish rain" while standing in a 90% humidity downpour. ⛈️

4️⃣ You’ve mastered the "Darwin Wave" (swatting flies) while wearing a GAA jersey.

What’s the #5 sign you’ve gone full Territorian? Let’s hear your best ones! 👇

Conor McCabrey 🇮🇪🇮🇪

Conor is a proud Irishman and an even prouder Armagh man. He moved to Sydney shortly after releasing his popular song, Sammys Coming Home, in the lead up to the Armagh Football team’s All-Ireland win in 2024.

After spending some time gigging around Sydney he decided to take his love of Irish music to the Top End. He has been playing across the pubs of Darwin, spreading the Irish spirit across the territory.

He looks forward to seeing you all at this year’s NT Irish Music Festival for some craic agus ceol (agus ól)!

☘️ THE KETTLE’S ALMOST ON… ☕

An Cupán Tae is nearly here and we can’t wait to welcome everyone for a beautiful morning of community, connection and craic 💚

There’s something special about slowing down for a proper brew with good company.

We all know how we do it in Ireland and new friendships always seem to start over a good cup of tea. Grand tales get swapped and familiar accents drift across the room like songs from childhood, making you feel right at home even half a world away. And as for the craic? Well, that flows just as fast as the tea itself!

Whether you come for the stretch along the foreshore, the catch-ups, the treats, or simply to be around the community for a while, there’s a seat and a warm welcome waiting for you. Don't be a stranger!
