🪏 🪏 Dirt Alert 🪏 🪏

A few more touch ups on Flying Cloud yesterday, continuing down the trail from work done in recent weeks.

Significantly beefed up the right hand corner after the left hand berm and jump - this was always an extremely high speed section and getting pretty chunky, it is now buttery smooth and plenty of berm to support you all the way around.

Following the right hander, a small section of trail was banked into a catch berm to straighten you up before crossing the drain - a little safer for less experienced riders and hopefully easier to maintain in future 🙂

After that, the eroded roller has been patched up, and the next right hander has been tidied up and smoothed out.

The fresh work may be a little soft in places as we haven’t had as much sun as we hoped for - scope it out on your first run down and keep an eye on the entrance to the recently refreshed jump in this section, as it was a little muddy yesterday.

🔦 Social Night Ride 🔦

Join Lachie and the crew from the local bike shop for a spin tonight leaving the top carpark (start of Jim’s Trail) at 5.30pm. Cruisy pace and we’ll have you back in time to head home for Origin kick off. Conditions are looking quite good after recent rain - there may be a puddle or two but nothing that should require a pressure wash afterwards 😉

Look for Lachie and Ian in the blue and red jerseys, see you then!

** Weekend trail update **

Hey all! MTB trails are currently open, but with more wet weather forecast please check trail conditions if you head out into the park, and maybe give it a miss if it’s been bucketing down or you are leaving obvious tracks on the trail. This evening there were some very dark clouds parked right above the park, even though the forecast says ‘mostly clear’ 🤣

Cheers to those who reached out today to check on the status of the trails for the weekend - it’s great to know that riders appreciate the work we put in and wish to avoid damaging the trails 🙂

Have a great weekend!

Hey team, our friends over at Logan City Council have cleaned up the couple of trees that were down on Koala and Ripley’s, just in time for weekend loops.

Cheers LCC!

Fresh Dirt Friday!!

Flying Cloud is getting some more love, and will see further improvements over coming months.

The take off for the stump gap jump has been significantly tidied up, to cover the rocks and stump that were becoming exposed from erosion. Same same but smoother!

The big berm below the new shark fin has had a make over - gone are the brake bumps and crumbling crest, it is now smooth and buttery all the way around. We’ve added some height and widened the entry to catch those who want to send it deep off the shark fin.

The jump after the berm was eroded to almost nothing after plenty of use, so we beefed it up so that it is a little poppier, and if you’re feeling zesty you can gap transfer into the right hander straight after. Heads up - work on this next corner is not yet complete, so check your speed on the first run or two. Out next project will be to smooth out and add some height to this corner to continue the roller coaster of flow 🙂

Conditions are mint - get out there this weekend and sample the new work!

Cheeky Monday afternoon dig session to take advantage of the moisture in the soil. Flying Cloud getting a little more love - rebuilding the right hand corner just after the first couple of jumps. With the corner being so close to the eroded jump, figured it was time to add a little more dirt and give it a hint of shark fin berm action!

As usual with rebuilt features, check your speed and do a sighting run before sending it. The further left you take off, the deeper you’ll go on the landing. The right hand side is still very mellow and totally rollable.

Unfortunately rain and darkness set in before we could properly smooth out the transition and brake bumps in the next berm - that will be next week’s project if the weather behaves. It is looking like rain for the coming days, hopefully it is just enough to keep the trails tacky, and not enough to shut them down.

UPDATE - Jumping Ant has dried up enough to also be opened 🙂

Riding time! All trails except Jumping Ant will be open from 4pm this afternoon. We expect Jumping Ant will be open early next week after a couple more days drying out.

Have a great weekend!

Hi Daisy diehards! Despite the weather clearing up yesterday, the trails are still quite damp in places and need a few more hours of sunshine to hit hero dirt status.

QPWS are looking to open the majority of trails Saturday morning (or potentially Friday arvo if we are lucky). Jumping Ant may need a few more days as it has a large spring feeding water onto an extended section of trail, and Glossy Black has a large tree down that needs clearing by the rangers (but should be open for the weekend). The remainder of the network will be running beautifully.

As always there were a few tyre tracks bypassing the obvious closures, but a lot less than we have seen previously. Kudos to those of you who respected the closures - to those who didn’t, may your gears forever skip and your MIPS helmet always creak 🤣

Once we have a definitive opening time for trails from the rangers, we will update accordingly. Get out there this weekend - the dirt will be fantastic 🙂
