Grow what you love… love what you grow 🌼

Plant your favourite veggies.
The herbs you always reach for.
The flowers that make you stop and sniff on your way past.

Good for you. Good for the garden. Good for the soul 🌿
What are you growing (or dreaming of growing)? 🌱

Those are the dates when they come out to do their project.

We are looking forward to getting into our Neighbours Every Day Initiative, when we will be hosting free clay workshops at various Community Gardens around Logan, and community garden members and others of the local community will be invited to make with us some colourful, zany items for the gardens, such as Bee and Butterfly Water Stations, Bee/Bug Hotels, Plant/ Tree Name Tags and other decorative characters to hide in the different beds with the vegetables, flowers, and bushes. Contact the different Garden Teams if you wish to take part in the (1) Making Sessions at the garden sites, (2) Glazing at LWCASA Studios, and (3) the Installation of the completed works with a celebration BBQ at each Garden. Over the next few months, we will compile Videos & Photos as the sessions progress and then have a final showing of the total Project to be celebrated at LWCASA at Hillcrest Studios. We are proudly funded by Logan City Council Neighbours Every Day Community Project Grant and look forward to meeting the locals in each area and having a great time creating.
MADE WITH CLAY, BUILT BY COMMUNITY.

Butterflies need more than nectar. 🦋

Many species also look for damp soil, mud, and sand to drink dissolved minerals like sodium and other nutrients — a behavior called puddling. These minerals aren’t available in nectar, and they’re especially important for males (who often pass nutrients to females during mating).

That’s why I made a simple butterfly puddling station:

Damp sand (kept moist, not flooded)

A tiny pinch of salt (just a little goes a long way)

Flat stones for warm basking spots

Overripe fruit to attract species that prefer fermenting fruit over flowers

I placed it in a sunny spot near flowers and keep it moist by refilling water regularly. It’s a simple way to support pollinators and get a front-row seat to some really cool butterfly behavior.

If you garden for butterflies, flowers are only part of the story — a little mud and minerals can make a big difference. 💛

Butterfly peas.
Nice to make a tea with lemon mrytle leaves.
The butterfly pea is known to contain antioxident to reduce blood sugar and kill cancer cells.

Can we compost toad after euthanized with fridge and freez method. The Answer is yes.
Person from Nourished Landscapes told me Bufotoxins from cane toads are organic compounds, which means they don’t persist indefinitely in a compost system. During decomposition, bacteria, fungi, and their enzymes break these molecules down into simpler, stable forms. A hot compost pile speeds this process considerably, thermophilic temperatures and high microbial activity accelerate chemical degradation and neutralisation. Even in a cold compost system, the toxins will break down over time as decomposition progresses.
Best practice is to compost cane toads in an active, well-managed hot pile to ensure rapid and complete breakdown. Once the material has fully decomposed and the compost is mature, dark, and earthy-smelling, it is safe to use in the garden.
