A huge thank you to Tanika and Ben from RedRock Farm, Bearii - Murray River , and to their family, for their incredibly generous support of the Moira FoodShare program.

Meat is one of the hardest products for us to source and, when we have to purchase it ourselves, one of the most expensive. That makes donations like these incredibly valuable and means the support we receive can stretch so much further for local families doing it tough.

We are incredibly fortunate to have local families and businesses who see a need in their community and simply put their hand up to help.

Thank you Tanika, Ben and the whole family at Red Rock Farm. Your generosity will put quality food on the tables of many local families, and we are very grateful for your support.

💚 At Moira FoodShare, we haven’t just created a food relief service.

We’ve created a community and a family that shows up, shares what it can and picks each other up when times are tough.

Today in Cobram, that looked like 72 bacon and egg rolls, 48 coffees and more than 100kg of food donated. 🙌

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us, and to MHA Care, Moira Shire Council, Cobram Family and Financial Services and Odesi Collective for making the morning possible.

This week is Homelessness Week.

When you hear the word homelessness, what do you picture?

For many people, it’s someone sleeping rough on a city street, but in rural communities like ours, homelessness is often hidden.

It can be someone sleeping on a friend’s couch.

A family living in a caravan because they have nowhere else to go.

Someone staying in their car.

Or a person remaining in an unsafe home because they simply have no other option.

COBRAM, It’s time to level up ⬆️💚

Moira Foodshare is getting ready to take another big step forward but we need more volunteers to make it happen! 🙋‍♀️🙋‍♂️

Our Cobram shopfront is currently open for just two hours each morning. With more people needing support, two hours is simply no longer enough to get everything done and our amazing continents need help. ⏰

We want to:

🕙 Open our Cobram shopfront for longer
📦 Operate our warehouse across more days
🥦 Rescue and distribute even more food
💚 Help more local people when they need us

But we can’t do it without a bigger team!

🛒 SHOPFRONT VOLUNTEERS
Serving customers, stocking shelves, sorting food, quality checking and general cleaning.

🚚 WAREHOUSE & DRIVER VOLUNTEERS
Driving, lifting, sorting and getting stuck into some hard yakka.

❄️ The winter mornings can be freezing.
☀️ The 45°C summer days can be bloody hot.
💚 But the work makes a real difference.

We need people who work well in a team, can get along with all types of people, likes to get things done and bring no stress and no drama. 🤝

A note from James, our Coordinator

We are finalising our numbers for the 2025–26 financial year and, to put it bluntly, they are pretty scary.

The numbers show us the scale of the need, but they do not tell every person’s story.

Across the financial year, Moira FoodShare recorded 18,471 service contacts, representing 48,615 people across the rural communities we support.

That included 37,898 adults and 10,717 children.

On average, more than 4,000 people were represented through our services every month.

That is around 10% of the population. Every single month.

Behind every number is a person, a family or a household needing support and a community working together to make sure no one faces hunger alone.

To our volunteers: you should be incredibly proud of what we have achieved and how far we have come. We ask more of you than many other food relief organisations, but your contribution allows us to keep directing our funding to where it is needed most. Food, transport and support for our communities.

To MHA Care: thank you for allowing us to grow, learn, make mistakes, thrive and create something that does not simply keep up, but innovates and helps set a new standard for food relief in rural Australia.

To Moira Shire Council and Berrigan Shire Council: thank you for backing the vision, our MHA Care program and the communities we serve.

Together, we will keep fighting hunger and feeding hope across rural Australia. ❤️

Kim has always gone above and beyond for Moira FoodShare. When the fires came through, she was the first one there—with a car full of supplies, a smile on her face and ready to do whatever she could to help.

Thank you, Kim, for everything you have done for Moira FoodShare and our wider community. We wish you and Brendan all the very best for this next chapter! 💚

I have decided that I will not re-contest my seat at the upcoming Victorian State Election in November.

It has been an absolute privilege, honour and joy to represent the Shepparton Electorate and to serve my community, something I will be forever proud and grateful for.

It has always been about serving my community in State Government and my time in Local Government, advocating for our region and ensuring that people have the care and support they deserve and need.

After 10 years of public service I have given it my all, and the time has come for me to slow down, spend more time with my family and some much needed self-care.

My deep gratitude to my office team - Melissa, Jack, Safa and Nancy - who have worked so hard supporting me and our constituents.

Also thank you to my National Party colleagues, National Party members, family and friends, and my dedicated husband Brendan who has been with me every step of the way.

To my community - thank you for your belief in me and your support. We have shared so much together.

I will continue to support my community in any way that I can. That won't change.
