The Australian American Association โ€“ Canberra Division was established in 1960 by a small group of enthusiastic supporters of the Australian American alliance. They aimed to build friendship, mutual understanding and co-operation between the peoples of Australia and the United States of America. The inaugural president of AAA Canberra was Sir John Crawford, a prominent Australian and the โ€œarchite

ct of Australiaโ€™s post-war growthโ€ Sir John held various distinguished posts in the Australian Public Service and the Australian National University, serving as both Vice-Chancellor and Chancellor. Over the years, the Association has striven to achieve these ambitious goals. In 1989, the Sir John Crawford Scholarship was established to assist young Canberrans to travel to the United States to advance in an area of study, research or initiative that will benefit their career or personal development. It was a privilege to stand alongside Chargรฉe dโ€™Affaires Erika Olson, LCDR Brett Grady, His Excellency Kazuhiro Suzuki, Ambassador of Japan to Australia, and our Australian and American guests as we commemorated the 84th anniversary of the Battle of the Coral Sea.

These commemorations remind us that while the Battle of the Coral Sea was fought in war, today we gather in friendship, mutual respect, and a shared commitment to peace and stability in our region.

Thank you to the U.S. Embassy Australia for your ongoing friendship, support, and commitment to honouring the shared history between our nations.

The enduring relationships between Australia, the United States, and Japan reflect just how far we have come together.

We are deeply grateful for the Embassyโ€™s continued support of our commemorative events and the Australian-American community. ๐Ÿ‡ฆ๐Ÿ‡บ+๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ

On behalf of the Australian American Association Canberra, our heartfelt thanks to Her Excellency the Governor-General of Australia and the wonderful team at Government House for such a memorable and generous evening.

For many of our friends from the Cumberland RSL Sub-Branch, it was their very first visit to Government House, and they were absolutely delighted by the warmth, kindness, and genuine hospitality shown to us all. Her Excellency was so generous with her time, sharing stories, laughter, and sincere conversations with veterans and guests alike, making everyone feel incredibly welcome.

The staff and team at Government House were exceptional throughout the evening and a true credit to Her Excellency. The reception was not only a wonderful honour for our veterans and members, but also a beautiful reflection of the spirit of remembrance, mateship, and service that continues to unite our communities.

It was a very special evening that our members will long remember with great fondness. ๐Ÿ‡ฆ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old;
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.

Weโ€™re honoured to support the ANZAC Day Veterans March on 25 April at the Australian War Memorial, organising the Allied Forces Contingent for the ACT RSL Branch.

All veterans and currently serving members of Allied Forces are invited to march with us.

๐Ÿ“ฉ RSVP: [email protected]

After the march, weโ€™ll head to the Mercure Canberra Hotel on Limestone Ave to continue the tradition of camaraderie, remembrance, and twoโ€‘up - with fellow club affiliates and members.

โœจ We also invite you to join us in further fellowship at the Burns Club, with the legendary Zero Alpha from 7:30pm.

After losing our home at the Canberra Services Club due to a devastating fire last August, weโ€™re so appreciative of the support weโ€™ve been receiving from other venues. Weโ€™ve lost our home, but not the community that surrounds it.

From all of us at the AAA - Canberra Division, we wish you all a happy, healthy, and prosperous New Year โค๏ธ๐Ÿค๐Ÿ’™ ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ‡ฆ๐Ÿ‡บ๐ŸŽ†๐ŸŽ‡โœจ ...
