Bishna’s story is a beautiful reminder that when you shop with purpose, you aren’t just buying a product; you’re supporting a new beginning for an artisan 🧵✨

Diagnosed with leprosy at just eight years old, Bishna feared her community's response, as she had seen her father face stigma for his leprosy diagnosis.

The doctors empathized with her fear and let her stay at the hospital as long as she liked. During Bishna's time in the leprosy hospital, alongside receiving the care she needed, she learned to sow and was provided a basic education. This enabled Bishna to join our shop partner, New SADLE, to earn an income and reclaim her life.

Learning the ancient art of the loom, weaving gave her more than just a skill. It gave her the independence to provide for her son and daughter as a single mother. Today she is proudly supporting her family and has the confidence to overcome rejection.

Your support through shopping handmade gives women like Bishna the freedom to step out from the shadows in confidence and into a secure, independent future.
