Blackheath Art Society

Blackheath Art Society Our main objective is to foster the practice and appreciation of the creative arts.

An inclusive, friendly community of Blue Mountains artists working out of two purpose built sheds behind the Fire Station in Blackheath NSW

Making art together for 50 years on Darug and Gundungurrah land Blackheath Art Society is a community of Blue Mountains artists who paint, draw and print in our unique purpose-built Studio, meeting each week in our different groups to work in the south ligh

t-filled space of the Studio. Some members are professional artists, some are starting out, but many find working in a community of artists a wonderful way to share knowledge, exchange views, techniques and friendly critique about art practice. Enhancing this learning experience are the tutor-led workshops arranged throughout the year. Our exhibitions provide an excellent showcase of talent which allows fellow arts practitioners and enthusiasts to see what members and others have been doing, and inspires us to keep developing our own work. Members are kept informed of Society activities via our quarterly Newsletter and website.

It’s just $100 for this four hour intro to Linocut printing run by our lovely Lisa, Queen of the Friday Printmaking Studio Group. Lisa has run a fair few intro’s to lino cut workshops and they usually sell out fast but for some inexplicable reason there are a couple of spots left for this one. Saturday 27th - do yourself a favour, head to the website and nab yourself a spot.

Time to get that portrait finished because the Bartchibalds is coming!

Entries to be dropped off at Barts in the Blue room at the back of the shed from Mon 6th to Friday 10th (no later than Noon), exhibition opens late afternoon on the 10th and closes at the end of Open Day on the 11th.

Sketches, paintings, 2D, 3D, unframed, framed - pretty well anything goes so long as it’s not too big. (under 30 cm sq including frame size )

There’s no cost to enter and kids can put a piece in too.

The Bartchibalds is a popular light hearted little show that doesn’t take itself too seriously. The more the merrier and cheers to that, I say.

See you in the Shed!

Apologies for being a bit slow on the socials these past few weeks. Even though I’ve been away from here, there has been a great deal of activity going on over at Barts and here is a run down of what’s coming up in the next few days and weeks.

All the workshops listed have one or two spots still available so if you’re fancying a bit of mid year art pick me up head to the website to book in.

And in particular this is a reminder that the Bartchibalds portrait show is on the horizon.

Paint draw sculpt, framed or unframed - what ever you fancy - just create a portrait of your favourite person or animal and you’ll get to be part of our super fun and very popular take on the Archibald’s. Take this as your artists call out. Just a few weeks to go!
