Yesterday we had 13 people competing at the Central & Upper Goulburn Shows Group Final held in Kyneton. We thank those entrants for being part of last years show where they won and represented the Alexandra Show today.

Alexandra Pro Rodeo Postponed, April 2026 Edition Coming

Alexandra has been significantly impacted by the recent fires. Many people in our community have lost homes, others have lost stock, fencing, sheds, or parts of their property. As a town, we are now moving from initial response into recovery, and that will take time. Current advice is that this fire event will continue to be active for weeks to come.

Every member of the Alexandra Pro Rodeo committee is deeply involved in different parts of the emergency and recovery effort right now. Because of this, and out of respect for what our community is dealing with, we have made the decision not to run the Alexandra Pro Rodeo this weekend.

Instead, the Alexandra Pro Rodeo will be postponed until April 2026, with the exact date to be confirmed shortly.

But there is an opportunity in this pause.

With time now on our side, we want to dedicate the 2026 Alexandra Pro Rodeo to rebuilding our community. This will be a disaster recovery-focused event. A bigger event, more entertainment, a stronger rodeo program, more for families and visitors, and more opportunities to directly support Alexandra and the people affected by these fires.

We are no strangers to using our events to back important local causes. Over the years, we have helped fund and build community infrastructure, supported men’s health initiatives through our hospital, invested in aged care, and much more. This time, the cause is personal. These fires have hit close to home, and they have affected people we know, work with, and care about.

So we are all in on making the April edition of the Alexandra Pro Rodeo the very best it can be, and using it to support our community in a meaningful way.

Are you keen to see the strongest Alexandra Pro Rodeo we’ve ever run?

We know there will be questions, particularly around tickets. Existing tickets will automatically transfer to the new April date. We also understand the new date may suit some people better than others, and that’s okay. We will work through those details and share clear information shortly.

For now, we ask just three things:

Please don’t come to Alexandra for the rodeo this weekend. If you’re keen for rodeo, consider supporting another event elsewhere.

Keep our community and emergency crews front of mind over the coming weeks.

Watch this space. We’ll be announcing the new April date very soon.

Please be advised that the rodeo has been postponed due to current fire conditions.
Camping tickets for the rodeo are currently on hold and all tickets holders will be contacted shortly.
We encourage everyone to stay safe and look after each other.

Anyone who needs assistance housing horses in the short term is welcome to attend the Showgrounds Caravan Park where we have a limited number of yards available.

RODEO HAS BEEN POSTPONED TILL FRIDAY 16th JAN
Yes the Rodeo will go ahead and yes we still have camping!
For powered sites or camping on Friday night, please contact the park directly otherwise please book through the links below.

We understand that ParksVic and Emergency Services are encouraging people pack up camp if they are in one of the local national or state parks, due to the current weather conditions.

If that's you, then please don't forget there are lots of camping facilities in Alexandra for the night of the Rodeo.

POSPONED THIS WEEKEND
RODEO RECOVERY WILL BE SATURDAY 27th

Yesterday we farewelled Les Pratt (Pratty), he was a well know resident to Alexandra & had been a member of the Alexandra Show. He was Chief Steward in the Horse Section and would be out in the centre of the horse arena ensuring things ran smoothly.
Pratty often would drop into the Showgrounds to see everything was ok & keep up the show news, there would be that sly chuckle or ‘yeah right is that so’. He came to the show last year (2025) on his scooter, sat & chatted with show goers, glad he had one last visit.
