In three weeks, these incredible volunteers travelled literally thousands of kilometres to train midwives in three separate Cambodian provinces and in 16 different health centres - completing over 400 ultrasound scans for pregnant mums living in some of the most remote parts of the country.

For the 240,000 people now with access to maternal ultrasound ... you've helped make pregnancy and childbirth better and safer for every mum! 🤰 🧡

Friday completed all five of our health centres’ ultrasound training in Mondulkiri - thanks to the super special midwives at Pechreada Health Centre.

G R A T E F U L 🙏🏼🙏🏾

So happy to welcome the teams from Renaissance Minerals and MACA at Me Mang Health Centre yesterday. These two Aussie mining companies have generously supported the expansion of our ultrasound project - not only in Mondulkiri province but across Cambodia.

We were thrilled to provide an ultrasound scan for four of their ‘monster truck’ operators. One of these special women was so overcome to receive the extra care that ultrasound can offer - she literally sobbed with joy! 🥲 👏🏽

Congratulations to our amazing grads! Sithat, Dany and Ret … making maternal care excellent for every mum! 🧡🩷🩵

For this health centre, more than an a hour by motorbike from the nearest hospital, ultrasound for pregnant mums is the difference between life and death.

Serving a rural transient population, the midwives at Keo Seima now have a tool and the skill to make sure pregnant women get the care they need, when they need it.

Congratulations to the team for completing the EveryMum ultrasound training program!!! Oh … and thanks Lyda for switching hats at lunchtime to whip up a delicious omelette!!! 🤪 🍳

O N E W O R D 🏡

It was a simple question to a quietly spoken village leader. A man responsible for the welfare of families in a camp for 5,000 displaced persons as a result of the border conflict.

What does it feel like to be forced to leave your home? - “Hopeless”. 🙁

EveryMum is humbled to support the mothers, babies and families in this community. This month we began our midwifery learning program, next March we will provide ultrasound equipment and training to the health centre adjacent to the camp.

It’s a much used word …

The last few days we met some of Cambodia’s unsung heroes, serving their communities in the far north of the country.

Despite the constant presence of Thai drones, F-16 jets flying low overhead and hundreds of military and civilian casualties to care for, every one of these doctors, midwives, nurses and officials remained at their health posts during the recent border conflict.

It will be an honour to stand alongside of you … for every mum. 🧡🩷

D I D Y O U K N O W ??? 🤔

Early last year EveryMum was invited by the health authorities in the Cambodian province of Oddar Meanchey, to share our training and mentoring with the midwives and doctors working in health centres and hospitals across the region.

Sadly, the outbreak of a major border conflict between Thailand and Cambodia in July last year forced us to delay the start of our programs.

Following the de-escalation of the fighting in January, yesterday we were able to travel to the conflict zone to assess the situation for ourselves.

Among the widespread devastation to civilian property - houses, schools, petrol stations, roads and bridges, we were shocked to find two health centres bombed with cluster mu*****ns and hear of another two health centres destroyed but unable to visit because of the presence of Thai military in the area.

When we met with patrolling Cambodian soldiers, they said one thing …

“We want peace, we want to go home to our families. Peace for Cambodia” 😕🇰🇭

Last day’s ultrasound training at Phnom Spong and O’Chra health centres …

Two life-changing weeks. Two incredible teams.
Five of the best sonographers on the planet (and super special people to boot!). 11 health centres in total, 40 midwives and over 350 scans.

The result??? Improved maternal care for tens of thousands of people!!!

So grateful to everyone involved.
