My name is Tadiwanashe. I am 21.
At age 4, in 2009, I was diagnosed with kidney cancer. Wilms Tumor.

I don’t remember running and playing like other children.
I remember a swollen abdomen that made me look like a pregnant toddler.
I remember hospital walls.
I remember pain I was too small to name.

My family didn’t have money for surgery. But God did. And people did.
Through kindness and support, the funds were raised, and my life was saved.
I spent 6 months in Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals fighting, and years after that going back for check-ups.

For years I hid my story. Today I tell it.
KidzCan taught me that my journey is not something to bury. It’s something to share.

The scar on my abdomen is not pain anymore. It’s power.
It’s proof that I survived.
It is a map of where I’ve been.
It is resilience. It is survival. It is hope.

Today, by God’s grace, I am a third-year medical student at the University of Lusaka
The little girl who once lay in a hospital bed now wants to be the doctor in that room for someone else.

Cancer interrupted my childhood. It did not write my ending.

This is what HOPE looks like.
Through everyone's little efforts KidzCan made the difference. This is what they do.
Because every child deserves a chance to grow up, to heal, and to dream again.

Mhondoro-Ngezi District Cancer Training Update

What a powerful week in Mhondoro-Ngezi District, Mashonaland West.
We trained 231 health workers from 19 clinics in just 5 days on the 3 most common childhood cancers: eye, kidney, and blood cancer.
Nurses joined the morning sessions, with Village Health Workers and Nurse Aides in the afternoons.
The goal: Equip frontline teams to spot warning signs early, so children can be referred immediately at grassroots level. Early detection saves lives.
We remain committed to strengthening early cancer detection across Zimbabwe’s communities.
