What happens when a wetland is protected? Communities thrive. 🌱💧

In Ward 31, Rupinda Village, Bikita District, the 30-member Rupinda Garden group once depended entirely on seasonal rainfall. Water shortages, poor harvests and a degraded wetland threatened livelihoods and food security.

Through support from Act for Peace and The Charitable Foundation, Christian Care fenced and protected the Mukweture Wetland, constructed a weir, and installed a 3km pipeline supplying water to a 2-hectare community garden.

Today, the garden produces tomatoes, onions, covo, beans, green mealies and potatoes throughout the year. Families are earning income, improving household nutrition, and building savings for the future.

“Before Christian Care and partners intervened, we only grew crops during the rainy season. Now we harvest every month.” – Mrs Joyce Mudzinganyama, Garden Secretary.

This is more than irrigation. It is climate resilience, food security, women’s empowerment and sustainable livelihoods in action.

Christian Care Zimbabwe continue its Christian Care Week commemorations with a donation to Tose Respite Care in Harare, a home that cares for children living with severe disabilities. 💛

The donation of flour,cooking oil,rice and soap was handed over on 30 September 2026. Every child deserves dignity and care, and we are proud to support the dedicated caregivers who make that possible.

Christian Care Zimbabwe marked Christian Care Week by donating groceries to vulnerable beneficiaries in Bulawayo. 🙏

The 50 households received flour,soap , cooking oil and sugar on 24 September 2026 at Evangelical Lutheran Church in Zimbabwe (ELCZ) in Njube. The gesture reflects our mission, as the development and humanitarian arm of the Zimbabwe Council of Churches, to serve those most in need.

59 Years of Faith, Resilience and Service! 🚢✝️

This week we celebrate Christian Care Week (22–29 September)! Since our founding in 1967 by the Zimbabwe Council of Churches, we've walked alongside Zimbabwean communities through wars, droughts, disease outbreaks and hard economic times.

Like the ship in our logo, we've faced turbulent waters — but with the cross of Christ as our anchor, we've never sunk.

Over the years, Christian Care and our partners have transformed more than 100,000 lives through boreholes, water schemes, nutrition gardens, livestock support and so much more.

Thank you to our member churches, communities, and partners for sailing this journey with us. Here's to many more years of service! 🙏

Christian Care Board representatives, joined by the secretariat, led by A/Chief of Party, recently visited our project sites in Bikita and Chiredzi as part of CC organisational support visits. 🙌

We were humbled by the warm welcome — the community greeted the team with song and prepared a meal for us, a true reflection of the partnership we’ve built over the years. Our Board representatives toured the wetland project in Bikita, and in Chiredzi, visited the school under the Chitope Japanese Embassy project, engaging directly with the community members driving its success.

We thank our Board representatives for their continued commitment to walking alongside our communities, and to Bikita and Chiredzi for their generous hospitality. 💚

Ronald has lived in Bikita district, Zimbabwe, his whole life. But without reliable access to water, life for his community has become increasingly difficult.

Through the restoration of local wetlands, Act for Peace’s local partner Care is working alongside communities to restore water sources, strengthen livelihoods and help families build greater resilience for the future.

In this video, Ronald shares what that work has meant for his community, and the difference reliable access to water is making.

It’s one example of how locally led action can help communities respond to the pressures that can lead to displacement, and build a more peaceful and sustainable future where everyone belongs.
