Dabane Dabane is a lead Non-Governmental Organization dedicated to establishing water and food secure communities within semi-arid areas.

The organization was established as a Trust in 1991 and registered as a PVO (25/ 2013), in 2013. Work with vulnerable groups of people who have a willingness, understanding and ability to Work with the resource-poor communities to uplift their standard of living. Work through a series of appropriate community based support strategies and suitable low technology solutions.

As the Dabane family, it is with heavy hearts that we mourn the passing of our dearest colleague, Ben Nyathi. His dedication, kindness, and gentle spirit will forever remain with us and in the work he touched.

🌱💧Dabane proudly took the lead in the humanitarian sector during the inaugural Maphisa District Agricultural Business Expo, held on the 3rd and 4th of August 2026.

The two-day event brought together exhibitors from Matobo and Bulawayo, including government extension departments, NGOs, and the business community, among them being Dabane, DVS, Matobo RDC, CAMFED, SNV, Maphisa Yardrill Investments, Maphisa Bluecross Agricultural & Veterinary Supplies, and Maphisa Speedbikes.

This year’s Expo carried the theme: “Growing Business, Growing Farmers; Building Profitable & Resilient Agriculture in Matobo.”

✨ Special recognition came home as we proudly clinched 1st position in the NGO category. More than an award, this achievement reinforces our leadership in the Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) project, ensuring communities in Matobo harness water sustainably for agriculture, horticulture, and improved livelihoods.

By linking water security to food security, we are living the Expo’s theme, proving that “Growing Business, Growing Farmers” is not just a slogan but a reality. The Expo highlighted how water, markets, and value addition can drive prosperity while ensuring the mantra “Leaving no one and no place behind” is achievable.

We also respond to humanitarian emergencies, helping communities prepare for, withstand, and recover from climate-induced shocks. It fills hearts with joy, but it also brings people together to laugh, talk, learn, share ideas, and reflect.

That’s exactly what the Balanced Food Production Cooking Demonstrations achieved in Matobo under the IWRM project. 🌱👩🏾‍🍳 Communities gathered not only to cook and taste, but to celebrate resilience, exchange knowledge, and strengthen bonds.

According to our Zimbabwean Constitution, anyone under the age of 18 is a child with the right to protection, education, and a childhood free from exploitation. Guided by safeguarding and child protection policies, we stand firm: Dabane does not support any form of child labour.

Our strategy in environmental conservation is rooted in practical, community-driven solutions. We champion afforestation and the construction of conservation structures such as half-moons, stone gabions, stone bunds, vegetative barriers, and silt traps, among others.
