From 5–7 May 2026, we hosted an Inaugural Small Livestock Management Seminar for farmers across Matobo, Gwanda, and Bulilima Districts. This groundbreaking seminar opened doors for farmers to explore entrepreneurial opportunities through small livestock such as goats, poultry, rabbits, guinea fowls, and ducks, and even consider adding value to grow their projects bigger. With insights from seasoned professional speakers, participants gained both expert knowledge and practical experience to inspire life-changing ventures. The energy was unmatched, and the motivation was real, farmers left ready to start something transformative for their families and communities. Resilience is key to unlocking better livelihoods.

These joyous smiles are proof that the underground surface runoff water harvesting tanks constructed under the BROT pilot project have brought impact when it comes to access to water for productive use at the household level. We have learned, documented, and now look forward to scaling these lessons into bigger projects ahead…

“The team that shows up”

At the heart of Dabane’s mission are the dedicated team members who show up every day, carrying the vision of resilience and hope into rural communities. Today, we celebrate these committed cadres whose unwavering efforts ensure that Dabane continues to stand strong. Through their work, water flows where it is most needed, and from water comes resilience, dignity, and enhanced livelihoods.

We honour their spirit, their dedication, and their impact.

From 7th to 9th April 2026, we had the honour of hosting one of our valued donors, Action for World Solidarity (ASW), for an office visit. As part of the program, farmers and field monitors from Matobo District joined us to share firsthand experiences and provide our guests with a primary overview of the ongoing work on the ground. Their voices highlighted the impact of sustainable water solutions and community-driven initiatives in building resilience. We are deeply grateful for ASW’s continued support and for the dedication of our communities, who make these projects thrive. Together, we echo the spirit of solidarity and progress.

World Water Day reminds us why Siqala Ngamanzi — we begin with water.

Water is more than a resource; it is dignity, health, food security, and opportunity. It is the difference between survival and growth, between vulnerability and resilience.

At Dabane, we see Sand dams, Boreholes, Rowa pumps, Taps, Tanks, and Troughs not just as structures, but as lifelines. They carry hope into dry seasons, restore livelihoods, and turn possibilities into progress.

Where water flows, communities rise. Gardens flourish, livestock thrive, women and children reclaim time, and futures are rebuilt. Every drop count, and every solution we create is rooted in sustainability, innovation, and community strength.

With water, life begins, and with water, communities thrive.

As Dabane, we believe that celebrating women is not confined to a single day or week, it is a continuous commitment to honouring the strength, resilience, and brilliance of women in our communities.

This Women’s Month, we continue to shine a light on the women who nurture families, lead communities, and drive sustainable development. From the women who walk miles to secure water, to those innovating solutions for climate resilience, to the young girls daring to dream beyond limitations, each story is a testament to courage and hope.

In our work, we see women as the heartbeat of transformation. They are custodians of knowledge, champions of inclusion, and architects of a future where sustainability and equity go hand in hand.

This month, and every month, we recommit ourselves to amplifying women’s voices, protecting their rights, and ensuring their contributions are recognized and valued.

When women rise, communities thrive...

It’s all about People, not just Projects!

This week, Dabane has been honoured to host four representatives from Irish Methodist World Development & Relief (one staff member and three volunteers), who are spending time with us both in our offices and across our operational areas.

The team is spending valuable time with our dedicated staff and resilient project participants supported under various initiatives. Their presence has brought encouragement and strengthened the spirit of partnership, reminding us that true development is most meaningful when it is rooted in people’s lives, hopes, and aspirations.

We deeply appreciate their commitment, their time, and their willingness to walk alongside communities as they build resilience and transform livelihoods. Together, we continue to prove that when people are at the centre, projects become pathways to lasting change.
