🛠️ Happy International Workers’ Day!
Today, NCDPZ joins the nation and the world in celebrating the dedication, resilience, and hard work of all laborers. International Workers’ Day is more than just a holiday; it is a reminder that the strength of our economy and the fabric of our society are built by the hands of workers. However, as we celebrate, we must also reflect on the barriers that remain.
# # # Inclusion is Not an Option It’s a Right
True economic growth can only be achieved when the workforce reflects the diversity of our community. For too long, Persons with Disabilities have faced systemic barriers to employment, from physical inaccessibility to unconscious bias in hiring.
Why Inclusive Employment Matters:
1. Diverse Talent: Persons With Disabilities bring unique perspectives, innovative problem-solving skills, and immense dedication to the workplace.
2. Economic Empowerment: Access to decent work is the most sustainable path toward independence and dignity.
3. A Stronger Zimbabwe: When everyone has the opportunity to contribute, our entire nation prospers.

# # # Our Call to Action
We call upon the government, private sector partners, and civil society to:
1. Enforce Accessibility: Ensure workplaces are physically and digitally accessible.
2. Remove Biases: Implement inclusive hiring policies that focus on ability and potential rather than limitations.
3. Provide Accommodations: Recognize that small adjustments in the workplace can unlock massive productivity.
To all the workers with disabilities currently navigating the professional world we see your excellence and your tenacity. To those seeking opportunities we continue to advocate for your right to a seat at the table.
Happy Workers' Day to all! Let’s build a future where the "World of Work" truly means work for everyone. 🇿🇼

🧩 EVERY LIFE HAS VALUE: Celebrating Autism Awareness Month.
At NCDPZ, we believe that a truly inclusive Zimbabwe is one where every citizen is seen, heard, and valued. This month, we join the global community in commemorating Autism Awareness Month.
The global theme for 2026 is:
"Autism and Humanity; Every Life Has Value"
This theme is a powerful reminder that being on the Autism spectrum is not a tragedy to be cured, but a part of our human diversity. At NCDPZ, we are moving beyond "awareness" we are advocating for acceptance, dignity, and full participation.
Our Call to Action for Zimbabwe:
In our Workplaces: We urge employers to recognize the unique talents of adults with Autism. When we remove barriers, we unlock incredible potential.
In our Communities: Let’s replace stigma with support. Understanding sensory sensitivities and communication differences makes our public spaces safer for everyone.
In our Schools: We call for inclusive education systems that accommodate neurodivergent learners. Every child has a right to learn in a way that suits their mind.
In our Policy: We continue to advocate for the full implementation of the National Disability Policy to ensure that the rights of persons with Autism are protected by law.
"Autism is not a disability; it's a different ability."
Let’s build a nation where every life is treated with the dignity it deserves. No one should be left behind because of how their brain is wired.

Happy World Down Syndrome Day! As NCDPZ, we are joining the global community to celebrate the lives, achievements, and rights of persons with Down Syndrome.
The global theme for 2026 is:
"Together Against Loneliness" 💙💛
For many individuals with Down Syndrome, loneliness isn’t just a feeling; it’s a result of being excluded from schools, workplaces, and social circles. Being "present" in a room is not the same as being included. True inclusion means belonging, having meaningful relationships, and being valued as an equal member of our Zimbabwean society.
Today, we call on all Zimbabweans to:
Create Welcoming Spaces: Invite someone with Down Syndrome to join your group, your game, or your conversation.
Advocate for Real Inclusion: Support inclusive education and employment opportunities that break down the barriers of isolation.
Let’s ensure that no one is left behind in the shadows of loneliness. Together, we can build a nation where everyone, regardless of their chromosome count, feels connected and loved.

🌍 DISABILITY AWARENESS: REDEFINING DIVERSITY 🌍
Togethet let's build a Zimbabwe where everyone belongs. Our latest image captures a vital message that we must all embrace.
It is often said that disability is a part of the human experience. But it is just as important to remember that:
✨ NOT ALL DISABILITIES ARE VISIBLE.
Disability doesn't always come with a wheelchair, crutches, or a walking cane. For many people in our communities, their challenges are unseen. They live with chronic pain, mental health conditions, neurodivergence, hearing impairment experiences, chronic illness, and other conditions that aren't apparent on the surface.

This awareness is crucial for fostering true inclusion and understanding in our workplaces, schools, and homes. It calls on us all to practice empathy, kindness, and active support, regardless of what we think we see.
❤️ EVERYONE IS DIFFERENT, BUT WE ARE ALL HUMANS. ❤️
Let this be our guiding principle. Our differences are what make us a vibrant nation, and our shared humanity is what unites us.
Join us in championing a more inclusive future. Share this image to spread awareness that true accessibility starts with an understanding heart.

Senator Shiri Demands Tougher Action on Disability RightsSenator Annah Shiri
Harare - Senator Annah Shiri, representative of Persons with Disabilities in Parliament, has called for sweeping reforms within the Zimbabwe’s justice system, demanding stronger legal protection, institutional accountability and harsher penalties for discrimination against persons with disabilities (PWDs).

Her remarks come in the wake of a disability awareness training recently conducted for senior management at the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe (NPAZ), which she described as a positive but initial step in addressing deep-rooted systemic barriers.

“The disability awareness training organised by the National Prosecuting Authority is a very commendable move towards ensuring access to justice for all.

"It entrenches the fundamental principle of law which entails that everyone must be treated equally before the law,” she said.

She however warned that training alone would not dismantle entrenched discrimination and structural exclusion.

“This bold move comes at a time when access to disability user-friendly services such as sign language interpreters, braille material and specialists as communication intermediaries is still very scarce, thereby limiting access to justice and making it impossible for disability-related cases to receive fair trials,” she said.

Senator Shiri proposed the establishment of Disability Liaison Officers within the NPA’s Justice and Inclusion Unit, arguing that such officers would bridge the communicat

💜 Shine a Light on Epilepsy: International Epilepsy Day 💜
Today, NCDPZ joins the global community in marking International Epilepsy Day. In Zimbabwe, thousands of our brothers and sisters live with epilepsy—a neurological condition that is often misunderstood, but should never be a barrier to a full and dignified life.
For too long, myths and stigma have forced people with epilepsy into the shadows. At NCDPZ, we believe that disability rights are human rights. No one should face discrimination in schools, workplaces, or our communities because of a seizure.

Why This Day Matters:
Education over Superstition: Epilepsy is a medical condition, not a curse. Let’s replace fear with facts.
Access to Treatment: We advocate for consistent, affordable access to anti-seizure medication across all provinces in Zimbabwe.
Inclusion: A person with epilepsy has the right to learn, work, and lead within their community without the fear of being ostracized.
How You Can Help Today:

Learn First Aid: Know how to keep someone safe during a seizure (Stay, Safe, Side).
Speak Up: Challenge negative talk or "jokes" about epilepsy.

Let’s build a Zimbabwe where everyone, regardless of their neurological health, feels seen, supported, and empowered.

Today the community of Gweru came together to commemorate the National Clean Up Campaign. NCDPZ Gweru was out in full force in the Gweru Central Business District for the National Clean Up Campaign! We were honored to be joined by the Senator representing Persons with Disabilities, and president of NCDPZ, Honourable Senator Annah Shiri, standing side-by-side with our community to show that environmental stewardship is a responsibility we all share.

👤 Individual Volunteers dedicated to making a difference.
Our participation today highlights NCDPZ community’s determination to ensure Gweru remains a clean, vibrant, and accessible city for everyone. When we work together, we don’t just clean our streets, we build a more inclusive society.
