Kidz Positive celebrating the potential and resilience of every mother and child living with HIV/AIDS

The Kidzpositive Family Fund is a Non-Profit Organisation dedicated to improving the lives of children and families affected by HIV/AIDS and other chronic diseases. The organisation (NPO 017-295) was founded in 2001 by health care professionals working at Groote Schuur Hospital in Cape Town, South Africa. We generate funds to provide grassroots support for children and families facing the challeng

es of chronic disease and we aim to partner organizations doing similar work in our region. We implement holistic health care solutions, which target the physical, social and developmental needs of our patients. Over the past few years we have made an impact on delivery of HIV/AIDS services in the Western Cape province of South Africa. Our project focuses on health care, family preservation, Early Childhood Development (ECD) and the training of health care workers.

Youth Day reminds us of the courage of young South Africans, and the responsibility we all share in building a country where opportunity is not just hoped for, but made possible.

At KidzPositive, every handmade product begins with skill, care and meaningful work. The women and mothers behind our beadwork are not only creating beautiful pieces. They are creating income opportunities that support families, open doors and contribute to a stronger future for the next generation.

Because when women are supported, families are supported.
When families are supported, young people have more room to dream, learn and grow.

A colour full of warmth, hope and meaning 💛

In Southern Ndebele beadwork, colours can carry different meanings depending on the region, family tradition and the specific item being made. There is not always one universally accepted interpretation, which is part of what makes beadwork so rich in story and heritage.

Yellow is commonly associated with the sun, warmth and light, life-giving energy and growth, as well as prosperity and abundance. For a light yellow bead, many contemporary Ndebele artists and crafters interpret it as hope, optimism, new beginnings, joy and positivity.

One Ndebele cultural source notes that yellow, or sarulana, represents the sun, one of the essential elements that sustain life.

For us, light yellow beautifully reflects the spirit behind handmade beadwork: the sun bringing warmth, hope, energy and the promise of a new day. Each piece carries not only colour, but the care, skill and story of the women who make it by hand.

We created these beautiful insulated bags in celebration of 10 years of Design in Africa.

Made in three colours, red, yellow and navy, each bag brings together practical design, handmade detail and proudly African creativity. The insulation inside also makes it perfect for keeping your water and food fresh while you are on the move.

And, as with every KidzPositive piece, there is more to the story. These bags help create meaningful work opportunities for the women and mothers who make them by hand.

Our beaded double string bracelet with charm is a beautiful piece for everyday wear, thoughtful gifting or a custom corporate gift with meaning.

Finished with a magnetic clasp, each bracelet is handmade by one of the mothers in the KidzPositive project and packaged with a tag signed by the woman who made it. It is a small detail that reminds us there is a real person, skilled hands and a meaningful story behind every piece.

These bracelets can be custom made in your company colours or in colours of your choice. Customised charms can also be included, making them a lovely option for staff gifts, client gifts, events or personal keepsakes.

Each bracelet weighs approximately 6g and is threaded on three ply polyester thread. Please wear and store your beaded jewellery with care. Over time, threads may stretch a little, and we recommend removing your bracelet before swimming, sleeping or showering. Fragrances and body lotions may also discolour beads and threads.
